I'm a male pre-nursing student and currently have a 3.02 gpa, which I know isn't very good. I have a few more pre-reqs to finish and I'll be applying to the Valencia Nursing program. Does anyone know if I'm even on track to get into the program? I have gotten C's in the a and p lecture but A's in the Anatomy Lab also a B in nutrition. If I'm not on track, can someone tell me what I will need to get on track. It would help to hear from someone with a lower end gpa that got into Valencia nursing recently. Thank you.

You are perfectly on track! All Valencia requires is that you pass each pre-requisite class with a C, and then apply. It is not a competitive program; once you apply, you will be put on the wait list. Currently they are accepting applications for Spring 2014! I am still waiting, I don't start until Summer 2013. My GPA was actually 2.7 when I applied, but again, they don't look at your GPA. They only look to see that you passed each class with a C or higher, and passed the TEAS test with I think a 72% or higher (not sure on that). Anyway, Valencia has the best nurses so you are definitely making the right decision to go there! In my opinion, it's worth the wait. I would rather be patient and wait, rather than take out a loan and pay $30,000 at some other college in Orlando....

Moved to FL Nursing Programs for more response.
I was accepted in May 2011 into the Summer 2013 class. However, I will most likely be starting in the Spring 2013 class. I spoke with the advisor last week and I am in the top 20 applicants that they pull each semester to start 1 semester earlier (due to people not claiming their seats, dropping, etc.) SO EXCITED!

Hey Melissa,
I'm accepted into the Summer 2013 program as well. How did you find out about the top 20? Is that based on a first come first serve basis, or is it randomized?

I'm signing up to the Valencia nursing program, I still gotta take all the pre req classes, I wanted to know if anyone has any advice on what classes to take, I don't wanna screw myself over by taking a lot of hard classes all at the same time... Also how long did it take you guys to finish all the pre req classes?

Update on Valencia requirements. Starting Fall 2014 the requirements changed to higher GPA and TEAS test.
