Valencia College ADN Spring 2019

Published

Hi,

I have been looking for a spring 2019 thread but I have not found one, so I decided to make one. I have applied to Valencia College nursing program spring 2019, and just wanted to connect with others who are doing the same! I'm excited and nervous at the same time, I hope I can get in!

I got into the Osceola Traditional program, did anyone make a facebook page yet?? If so can you add me? Victoria Hernandez

If anyone else from the Osceola campus wants I can make a page if anything. I'm so excited!

I got waitlisted, I applied to day time Osceola.

I applied to Valencia's nursing program in June 2018. I was told I wouldn't be accepted for Spring 2019 but I haven't heard anything about the Summer yet. Has anyone heard back about Summer yet?

Same here. Haven’t heard anything yet. Keeping my fingers crossed

Hi Everyone,

I have applied for the general track Summer 2019. I was just curious how the program is going for all of you so far?

Can you give any ideas of what to expect, how to prepare, etc?

I'm curious to hear from those that were accepted, congratulations! As well as those who were waitlisted.

I went to a nursing info session about a year and a half ago, so this may be old info....

But for those who were waitlisted and asking about when everyone applied, I don't think the application date matters as long as it was in by the deadline prior to the semester you wanted. I think they go through all the applications for the semester at the same time, regardless of submission date (at least that is how Seminole State does it). From what we were told at the Valencia info session, as long as you meet the criteria for the TEAS and GPA you will receive a seat. However, they can not tell you when that will be.

My assumption is they probably go by TEAS score and GPA, then if they have seats left they start pulling from the waitlist. Again this is my assumption, you would have to contact the Health Sciences Dept to confirm.

Hope this helps!

@J_Johnson If you look onto your Health Science Online Application it says underneath your submission date Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Students who meet all the admission requirements are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis for a specific campus. Once a campus enrollment is filled for the upcoming term, students will continue to be reviewed for future program start dates for that campus.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply well before January 15, May 15, & September 15. All admission decisions will be sent to your Atlas e-mail approximately 6-8 weeks after these dates.

This is why everyone is asking when people applied. I have talked to a few advisor for the nursing program, there is a wait list. People who applied for spring in July through September did not get in since people who applied in April through May for the Fall got pushed for spring.

Hope that helps.

rae23 thank you for clarifying that! That stinks for me! I was hoping to start in summer but I didn't get my application submitted until the day before the deadline. I didn't realize Valencia didn't go by GPA and TEAS scores :-(.

I received an email saying that my application is being reviewed for Summer 2019!! Did anyone else get this email?

Hey guys,

Suddenly I understand why threads always go dark once people start their programs.. I haven't been back on these forums in months; super super busy with school, but I'm just now finishing up my first semester in VC's nursing program and found myself back here. Wishing you all luck if you're starting this summer session, or perhaps in the fall.

I know that most of my cohort were waitlisted and had to wait at least one semester to get a spot; though I applied for and did the concurrent program, which automatically gives you a spot in the next semester's cohort (i.e. its waitlist-proof), so that's always a way to start sooner if you're wanting to do that program and are willing to put in the extra work. Valencia will accept anyone so long as they meet the minimum requirements, whereas the concurrent program is competitive and only the top scorers are accepted. Something to think about if you're still trying to decide what to do.

Since Valencia isn't considered competitive, would you still be able to get a good job after graduating? I already hold a B.S from UCF and will be finishing up pre-reqs at Valencia this fall..

Hey CoeurCommeHepburn,

I haven't heard anything other than that Valencia grads do well with finding work after graduating. I'm not sure how a Valencia degree looks to employers outside of the central FL area, but the school has a good reputation in this area, along with UCF. That being said, I'm in school, so I don't know what hiring managers themselves think.
