Valencia ASN program Fall 2015

I will be starting the Fall 2015 ASN program at Valencia Community College. Is there anybody else on this forum also starting in the Fall

I was going to start buying books now if I find a good deal (I was wanting to wait to use my grant money first) but it is super cheap to rent them. I know they're always good to look back on but there's like 22 books on that list:unsure: Do y'all think it's worth the extra money to just buy the book or can I get away with renting them for hundreds less? Just trying to see what everyone else is doing. I'm a single mom so every penny counts!

I understand! I'm a single mom too. Renting is cheaper, for sure. I know a lot of new information builds off of past information, but hard to say how much you will need them later on. What about used ones on Amazon?

They are still pricey. The main one I wanted to start on was the fundamentals of nursing I believe that will be our main textbook and it was still in the $180's. I guess I can at least wait till orientation to find out for sure. I'm so excited for it, it will all be real then! Less then a month away!

is there a difference between the red and silver group besides the professor?

just the professor and what hospital they go to for clinicals. I really wanted red team but the seats filled up so fast

I'm on red team bc I didn't want the other professor in silver be I couldn't really understand him at oreintation so I knew that wouldn't work out good during lectures with him. How do you know what hospital each team goes to?

Yeah I couldn't understand him either :( I have my own accent, should be interesting. I guess well find out the first week of class. I went to campus today to get ID, labkit, parking decal and they turned me away saying they misinformed us in orientation that we can't get our ID until the first week of class and you can't get the labkit until August 5..I was so mad.

hopefully someone can switch with you :( and I almost went to campus today to, good thing I didn't. I went up there a few weeks ago and they turned me away and said the same thing so I figured after orientation we could get everything done, I guess not.

How do you find out what hospitals you go to?

Lol I remember this feeling 😀 wow the suspense of the first day. The fundamentals book you definitely have to purchase because of the code same as the pharmacology. I don't know if they told you guys from orientation but when you get to nursing 2 keep all your books especially the mental health you're going to use it all the way to nursing 6.
