Hi everyone,
I want to start a thread for anyone who applied to the VA Palo Alto's new grad program that ended Jan. 30, 2013. Let's keep each other updated during the process! As of today, my application still says "application received". Anyone else hoping to get a job here?
I am in San Francisco (city). I picked Geriatric Psych as my #1 because it truly is my passion - it's what I did my senior synthesis in nursing school so it's obvious I'm not picking it for other reasons. The people were wonderful the campus is beautiful. It's not "right" to give interview insider information (haha, sorry), but I would just say my advice is to be prepped for a variety of questions, but be yourself. Good luck to all :)[/quote']Awesome, hope you get it!
Does anyone know who many people they are interviewing for each unit??
I had an interview today for Community Living Center (Geriatric area)....I forgot to ask them how many people they are interviewing, BUT they told me that they would only hire ONE new grad in their dept and didn't know how many in other. The VA job posting said there were only 12 vacancies in the different depts that would be interviewing....FIERCE competition!
Good luck to all of you who've had interviews! I never got a call from the VAAre they still making calls for some of the units? I put med/surg and critical care as my top 2 choices.
The VA is officially doing the VETPRO sign up for the finalists. ..The nurse recruiter is making her calls this week. There are 15 lucky applicants out of 730 apllications. The physicals will take place around March 4th and the start date of the program is April 8th. Official calls from HR will happen this week and next.
I just talked to the nurse recruitment department and they are still calling people for interviews, buttttt "if you don't get a call by the middle of next week, that probably means you were not chosen." Good luck to all. She did not know what units are still making calls though...if I had to guess, I bet the critical care units are still calling because they probably had the most apps to go through (that is what I keep telling myself, haha). And yes, they are only taking 15 people. :-(

So which units have been called? Has anyone heard from ICU?
