  1. Was it this email: "Thank you for applying to our June 2013 New Grad Program. We are unable to proceed with all of the applicants that applied at this time. If in the future we have additional positions open up we will contact you for an interview. You are an excellent candidate and we hope to keep in contact with you for consideration at a later time." ? So positive for a rejection letter!
  2. Hello future Columbia students, I graduated from ETP in 2012 and am in the ETP-anesthesia program. When I first applied, I was admitted into the BSN portion (February 2011) but not the master's. Before starting the program, however, I was admitted into the CRNA portion of the program as well (April 2011). I didn't even know there was a wait list! I'm not saying that it will work out for everyone (because it definitely did not for many people in my class), but it's a possibility. I can tell you a lot about my experience as one of the 2 students in the ETP-Anesthesia program for my year. While there are normally 5-10 students, we had an exceptionally small class. I have had both good and bad experiences, and I promise to be honest with you about the Columbia lifestyle and working toward the master's program. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Even if your specialty is not anesthesia, I can most likely answer your questions about the BSN portion of the program or refer you to a classmate in your preferred specialty. Good luck to you all!
  3. No, Columbia won't help you find a job. The people from my class who found jobs in the ICU right after graduation were people who did their integration (like a senior preceptorship) in hospitals outside of manhattan (ie Long Island or Brooklyn). The major hospitals in manhattan that Columbia does rotations with (like NYP, Mt Sinai) generally won't hire a new grad into an ICU. CRNA students from last year moved upstate or out of state. I took an extra year off and moved back home to California. You will most likely find a job, especially if you are willing to move to states that accept more new grads into ICUs (North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Florida). Start looking into new grad residency programs the March before you graduate. Good luck! And I hope to see you all around campus in the future.
  4. I also chose critical care and med surg as my top 2 choices and have not yet heard anything. I'm not too optimistic, though. I would have loved to work there.
  5. So which units have been called? Has anyone heard from ICU?
  6. Finally! An easy way to motivate my overweight patients to exercise!
  7. I knew I should have taken his vitals BEFORE telling him about the shot!
  8. I received a call from a nurse recruiter earlier this week. (It was a misunderstanding about my application.) Apparently they received over 700 applications this time. She mentioned the week of the 18th as either when they were going through the apps or when they were going to start making calls. I'm not sure which because she was quoting someone in the background. It was a confusing phone call...
  9. I don't think I had to put my GPA on any applications. Some places ask you to choose which range your GPA falls into, but not your exact GPA. I can't remember if Davis did this. Has anyone heard from Davis yet?
  10. I haven't heard anything, good or bad.
  11. My status still says "On File." I didn't receive a rejection e-mail yet. Maybe they are going through and rejecting in order that people applied? I applied on the 27th. I don't have much hope.
  12. Does anyone know if there is priority for those that apply earlier? I will not be able to apply (due to recommendation letters) until next week. Is there still a chance that I can be accepted into this cohort?
