Did anyone apply for VA Palo Alto New Grad program? Can you let me know if you hear anything or any phone calls? I'm tempted to call them but the application said they'll start calling people between August 1st to 10th. So i guess i need to wait.

I was going to apply for that one but it's too far of a commute for me. I live in Sac. Good luck to you though. :)

I received a phone interview yesterday.
O really. Good for you. When did you turn in your application? I turned in mine beginning of June but last week of June I edited my cover letter and resume and reposted it. I was worried my cover letter wasn't posted since the system was having problems. Did you do any clinical at VA Palo Alto or their affiliate facilities. Is that what they are looking for? Any suggestions you have for me? Thanks for replying.

My friend also got a call for an interview. I still have yet to. :-( Keeping it in my prayers!
I turned in my application early July as well. Got a phone interview and had a 1:1 interview with the NM of a unit earlier this week. A few of my friends applied to the program; however, did not receive a phone call at all and I believe it's due to not having had any experience, e.g., clinical rotations or volunteer/working, at the VA Palo Alto. I have had both. I am going to stop by the HR office today to find out more info and will post here.
I wish I had some good suggestions for you as I am only speculating on their selection process. I wish you all the best of luck! :redpinkhe

Thanks for your input. Your insight is really helpful and I would agree with your theory that experience at the VA puts you in a more favorable position. Good Luck with the process!
I got a generic email response today stating packets had been forwarded to hiring managers and all decisions would be made by August 20th.

Got a panel interview on Friday. We will see....God's plan always prevails and if it's his choice for me not to work there, then so be it. May He lead the way....
I talked to HR and the initial screening was based on a rubric scale that looked at criteria like: ADN vs BSN; nursing experience; LVN experience; current RN license; and GPA. If your score meets a certain value, then your resume packet is forwarded to the NM.
The final decisions will be made by this Friday and you will hear from either the NM directly or someone in HR. Sorry, I did not gather too much information. The man working in HR seemed to rush me off the phone. Hope this helps!
has anyone else heard from them? the suspense is killing me

Has anyone been hired at the VA Palo Alto. I wanted to know if there was a pharm test that new hired nurses had to take, and also:
1. What's the breakdown - #questions, parts, sections
2. Passing score.
3. Is there a study guide they give you.
4. Is the test unit specific to where your working or is it generic.
