Although I am not a nurse, I am a CNA that works for the VA in Pell City. We got a retention bonus from the VA for $300 that is being paid to us in 2 payments and also taxes both times. We can't get 2nd payment for another 6mnths, which I found very shady. Also a small raise across the board. We haven't seen a raise in 3 yrs until now. May I ask are you employed with HMR or the VA?
Looks like this topic is still of interest! Sadly the VA doesn't publicize these things internally or externally.
I don't know about NAs. But for RNs at some VAs, such as Palo Alto:
* The Raise Act pay raise (5%?) was backdated to October.
* The 20% retention pay continued until... February I think?
*Starting PP1 in 2023, the 20% retention bonus was converted into a permanent pay raise.
* Finally, there was the full federal pay raise of 4.1% also starting PP1 2023.
Phew! A lot of raises! Yet still making less per hour than many starting salaries at nearby Stanford.
What union represent the VA nurses around Bay Area Ca?

I'm a VA nurse in the Bay Area and my hospital, nurses received a 20% increase. With the raise act. I only received a 6% increase from by base pay. There hasn't been any talk about the VA renewing the retention incentive since contract ends in January. I've heard some senior nurses say that they are going to renew the 20% retention every year until it becomes our base salary. Just wondering if you guys heard anything at your VA hospital. Thanks!
