I interviewed back in January with the VA and got a tentative offer from the Nurse Manager. Took nearly two months for the offer to come through after receiving an exemption. I accepted it over a week ago and was told that there is a delay due to the new hire portal being upgraded and it was unknown when it would be available so I can finish with the credentialing process to get a start date. I don't see any chatter online about this. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I know they changed to a more secure sign in but have not heard of changes in the new hire portal. Just sitting here twiddling my thumbs hoping my current employer keeps allowing me to work through this lengthy process.

Congratulations on your tentative offer from the VA! I truly hope this does not affect you, but this is what is going on right now:

I would start applying for other jobs or plan to stay where you are. VA is cutting big time. And new employees/probationary employees getting let go first. And even if you do start working at the VA I would stay on good terms with your current employer because you might be looking for a job at any second.
