I don't think DC is part of the compact: https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm -- so a VA license wouldn't work in DC, and vice-versa.
If your living in VA and working in DC, you would need to get a DC license and vice-versa. With a compact license you would be able to live in one state and work in another with the same license. Only thing is that both states need to be a compact state. Click on this link https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm to see if DC is one of those states and if so, I would get licensed in VA since that is where you will be living. Hope I wasn't confusing.

I have searched around this site and also the VA BON and DC BON but can't seem to find the info I am looking for. I currently have my license in Michigan and Indiana which are both not compact states. My husband has been relocated to Northern VA for a year (or longer) job so I am looking into relocating with him. At this point I am not sure if I would be working in the Fairfax, VA area or in DC but I am trying to figure out which license I should get. Is a VA license good in DC? I guess I just don't want to pay both the $130 fee to VA and the $230 license fee to DC when it is not necessary. I do not currently live in a compact state so I don't understand how that all works.
Any info would be great!
