UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.

As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)

Best of luck to everyone in the May 2016 cohort. I too was offered a spot in October after they were unable to secure a clinical spot and have the contracts negotiated by the deadline (in PA.)

I just wanted to make sure I put a note on here for anyone considering applying into this program, if you are not in one of the 4 states where the University has previously established clinical locations, and you are in one of the 'approved states' that securing clinical sites can be very difficult and almost always takes longer than the timeframe you're given for that cohort. From what I was told, the states with established clinicals (at the time of writing this so it can change) are WI, FL, OR and WA (but WA may change soon.) Please keep this in mind when applying. It was a very long path for me during this application process and I was thrilled to be accepted only to find out after a month of trying to secure a site in time, that I was being dropped. I don't remember ever reading on here about anyone dealing with this, so wanted to make it known.

Again, best of luck to the May 2016 cohort! :)

Hey guys!

I had a question for accelerated cohort graduates, how closely do the instructors follow the textbook in the online class platform? I went ahead and purchased old editions to get a jump on the May 2020 cohort start and I’m curious as to how often It’d be best to purchase the new editions on top of the old editions I already have. Any information about specific classes or the online mode of instruction in general would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
