UWF FNP Spring 2024

U.S.A. Florida

Specializes in Medical Intensive Care Unit.

Hello!

Anyone else attending University of West Florida for the MSN FNP program this upcoming Spring 2024?

I got my acceptance today ☺️

Specializes in Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Quality Improvement.

Wow that's amazing!! I didn't know you could find out so early! I just decided on applying within the past few days and submitted everything today. Do you mind mentioning your stats (even PM if you want)? I'm just so nervous!

I have been a nurse for 6.5 years, 4 years was in cath lab, 1 year as a Quality/Risk Manager. This past year and a half has been spent raising our 1.5 year old!
I had 3.6 GPA for my ASN, 4.0 for BSN, and I actually got my MBA from UWF earlier this year which was 3.5. It was my job in quality that made me realize that I really miss patient interaction. So now that I'm ready to go back to work, I decided I wanted to be a NP after all! I just hope that 1 year gap doesn't affect me ?

Congrats! I just got accepted yesterday!?

Hi @cvrnstephanie!

I applied for the priority deadline. I submitted everything before September 15th. Now, they have the regular deadline which is November 3rd. They will likely review your file then. I hope you get in!?

Oh nice! You have some good experience under your belt. I have been a critical care nurse for 2.5 years. I went straight into a BSN program after completing my associates. My GPA was 3.7 upon graduating. I also have volunteer experience at an outpatient GI Lab.

I know waiting isn't fun, but I wish you all the best of luck! I kept refreshing my page all day long waiting for a response.

@LinMarie Congratulations! ?

This is an awesome opportunity to further our careers ? I'm excited!

I saw a comment on here @surgicalsteph, but on the CCNE site, I see no issues or that there was one.

Side note, did anyone go over on word count on their goal statement? I'm at 203, and I may be overthinking this, but I don't want them to think I can't understand instructions haha

@cvrnstephanie yea I checked and doesnt look like they lost ccne accreditation. Spoke to a coworker and shes been to another FNP program then transfered to uwf. She says they are pretty much the same with self learning.

I stopped at 200 on the dot. I was at 218 then had to shave it down. Like you said I didn't want to look like I can't follow basic instructions especially in a masters level degree

I went over the word count limit as well and as I waited on a decision I kept beating myself up for it. It ended up being okay, but I get it too when you say you want to prove you can follow instructions. I think you'll be okay ?

Welp, the process has started! I know it'll be like 2 weeks from when they closed the application, but I keep checking my status regardless ?
