Hey everyone! So I created a FB group called "UWF FNP Class of Spring 2026" ?

OK so I spoke to the coordinator and actually my application was in the final process of being reviewed by nursing! She apologized for what the other grad admission person said, and just now, I received my acceptance email!! ❤️? Did anyone create an FB page yet?

I've been calling a few departments and finally graduate admissions just told me that my application is still with them and hasn't been seen by the nursing department yet?! I told them I didn't understand why because I just graduated Fall last year from their MBA program with a 3.6 so I know that I met graduate admissions then, and I meet it now. So I didn't understand why it had not been passed along? She said that they can take up to the end of Spring class enrollment which is Jan 8 to make a decision... I was like ummm no LOL there is no nursing school anywhere that would tell a potential nursing student, let alone a nurse practitioner student, that they have been accepted the same day classes start. I'm on hold now with a graduate coordinator who can help me a bit more. Sorry, just venting out some frustration LOL

Welp, the process has started! I know it'll be like 2 weeks from when they closed the application, but I keep checking my status regardless ?

I saw a comment on here @surgicalsteph, but on the CCNE site, I see no issues or that there was one. Side note, did anyone go over on word count on their goal statement? I'm at 203, and I may be overthinking this, but I don't want them to think I can't understand instructions haha

Wow that's amazing!! I didn't know you could find out so early! I just decided on applying within the past few days and submitted everything today. Do you mind mentioning your stats (even PM if you want)? I'm just so nervous! I have been a nurse for 6.5 years, 4 years was in cath lab, 1 year as a Quality/Risk Manager. This past year and a half has been spent raising our 1.5 year old! I had 3.6 GPA for my ASN, 4.0 for BSN, and I actually got my MBA from UWF earlier this year which was 3.5. It was my job in quality that made me realize that I really miss patient interaction. So now that I'm ready to go back to work, I decided I wanted to be a NP after all! I just hope that 1 year gap doesn't affect me ?

True what others day. I am also a newly licensed RN, but I joined American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) a few months ago because I've always enjoyed critical care, plus I like the info they send in your email. I'd definitely recommend that organization if that is what your interested in.

Thank you for your advice Dodongo! I'm actually accepting a position that was recently offered to me in Cath Lab "Staging." Their term for pre and post-op pts. Here, we would get a mixture of IABP's, pacemakers, EPS pts, interventional radiology, etc. The director also told me that after 6mo-1y, I am able to float to CVICU since they consider Cath Lab to be "critical care" (or go into Cath Lab, but I am interested in CVICU). I am just nervous (yet very excited) as Cath Lab is a whole different animal! Lol Especially for a grad nurse! But, I am extremely motivated, and not scared to ask questions lol

Does anyone know if you can transfer to another unit during your 2 year contract with HCA? For example, at Florida Hospital, you can move laterally. Meaning, if I started out in Medical PCU, but wanted to go into CVPCU after 1 year, I am still honoring the contract and do not have to add any additional time. But, if after a year I want to go from Medical PCU to CVICU or MICU, I have to add 1 additional year to my contract.Or of course, if you go from PCU to Med-surg, there is no penalty, although that is most likely not going to be the case lol

I agree. I believe a step-down provides a great foundation for critical care. I just hate that after 1 year of transferring, I'll have to add anogher year to my contract I'm not really sure if Florida Hospital hires new grads into CVICU. That is something I'll have to look into, but I'm not holding my breath for it! Lol

Hello everyone! I will be graduating on April 27th :) and have a few offers to start my nursing career. My end goal is CVICU. I absolutely LOVE cardiac. I consistently go out of my way to learn more as well as the newest innovations in the cardiac field - e.g., attend conferences, receive certifications such as EKG, 12-Lead, ETC. Currently, I have offers in: (1) 60 bed Multisystem PCU (MSPCU) in Fl Hosp Orlando with a focus on pre-op cardiac patients since the unit recently partnered up with the cardiovascular institute. But they also take any and everything ortho, renal, etc. (2) 20 bed MSPCU in Fl Hosp East Orlando that mostly gets the step-down ICU pts unlike the other 2 PCU's in the hospital. Also a cluster of patients. (3) 20 bed Neuro/Cardiac PCU in Fl Hosp East Orlando with the obvious types of patients (I am not a huge neuro person lol) (4) Osceola Regional Medical Center offered me a surgical floor which I kindly declined, but told the recruiter that I would love an opportunity to interview with the cardiac manager. When I had my interview, I only had a DON and 1 NM that stated that the rest of the managers are finishing their yearly eval's and couldn't attend today. Not a big fan of the hospital considering it's HCA (5) 30 bed Cardiovascular Interventional Unit PCU at Fl Hosp Orlando with pts with AAA, lung transplants, post CABG, etc. I am considering this one and the next -> (6) 30 bed MSICU at Fl Hosp Orlando with pts with CRRT, sepsis, complex general surgeries, etc. - typical MICU pts Now with the 2 year contract, I can move laterally. Meaning if I want to go from CVPCU to CVICU, i will add time to the 2 year contract (e.g., 6 months in CVPCU to then CVICU, now I add 6 months to the 2 year contract). Rather than if I went from MSICU to CVICU, I will still honor my contract without having to add any additional time. Which floor do you think will most prepare me to be a great CVICU nurse? I know the CIU will obviously give the cardiac pts, while the MSICU will help me with my drips. Both are amazing units and am so grateful for what God has provided for me! I truly appreciate everyone's advice plus for reading this entire entry! Lol

Hi, I was in nursing school in the state of Florida and failed 2 courses by less than 2 points Nursing is my passion, I was 2 semesters away from gradbuating with my BSN. I can't see myself doing anything else, and even the other professors told me to not give up, and that they always saw me as a CVPCU/ICU nurse since I also killed the cardiac/pulmonary exams. My only problem is that I'm having problems trying to apply to a program that will take me after already being in nursing school! Valencia, UCF, USF, won't take me. I will hope for the best for Seminole, but I was looking into Herzing and Keiser. Has anyone in Florida gotten into a nursing program after failing? I need to find some schools
