UW Oshkosh Acclerated Online October Cohort Applicants?

Published

Anyone out there applying to the UW Oshkosh Online Accelerated program? I applied and am excited to hear if I got in! I'm worried about the expense and intensity, but at 40 years old I don't want to waste any time getting to that BSN, which is my ultimate goal. I live in Wisconsin but 3 hours from Oshkosh so it won't be a quick commute for the on-campus weeks.

Just hoping to connect with other applicants while we cross our fingers and wait!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to let you guys know that there's a facebook group! (I didn't creat it, but I just wanted to let you guys know about it)

Search under "Oshkosh Cohort" and you should see the May 2010 Cohort!!

Congrats to everyone!

I was just going to say, I made the facebook group so join it!! :-) I thought it would be a great way for us to get to know each other more!

Uh oh, I'm not on Facebook, I'm so out of touch with social networking :uhoh3:

thats ok, we will all still be on here as well, its just facebook seems to be a little more user friendly and it has more info about each one of us. :-) No biggie!!

Yay!

Has anyone got their packet yet? I see that we'll have some self-study books to work on before orientation, can't wait to get mine and get started!

I ordered mine yesterday!! I figured might as well get them done earlier before actual classes start. Just to remind you all as well, TEAS is taken during orientation and I just started to look at my book to start reviewing, and some of that stuff is from like middle school, its totally worth a review possibly. I am glad I got a book!!

I haven't recieved mine yet but look forward to getting started also! I heard about the books, I tell you this is going to be a vigorous program.

Congrats on getting into the program, all! I am currently in the accel program and it's great...I would do it again in a heartbeat. The program is vigorous but totally do-able....let me know if you have any questions :)

Thank you. Also thank you for being available for questions.

For those who ordered the two books already, the math and the medical terms, are they specific to one area, or would another medical terminology book work?? I wasn't sure if we needed them for a specific class, sas818 maybe you know! Thanks a bunch!!

The 2 books have to be finished before orientation starts. They don't physically check them over in person, but you'll take tests for the first couple of classes on the material covered in the 2 books. You should probably stick with the ones on the booklist....not sure about other med term books. They are boring but good stuff to know and I'm pretty sure that some test questions are ones covered in those specific books.

the bookstore said that they needed to be new and that they were specific books to the classes that we use. orientations manual said we will be turning them in to be looked over. i started the math for meds book and it really isn't too bad at all.
