UW ABSN Summer 2016

Published

Hi guys,

I accidentally made a thread that was titled Fall 2016. So I remade a new one!

Good luck to everyone applying :)

Hi everyone! I was admitted to the Summer 2016 quarter for the ABSN program, and I just wanted to check with everyone that the due date for the post-bac application to UW is February 15th. I know in the information packet it says that date as the deadline, but I saw somewhere else something about today, January 15th. Just wanted to see what date everyone else had down!

stomtom, yes the post-bac application is due February 15th! As for the January 15th date, you may be thinking about the regular BSN deadline. Their application for admission is today.

Oh I think I was! Great thanks for the help. : )

ZrowGz and mt_girl, is there anything we can do before the program to prepare ourselves? Any topics we should brush up on?

Also, for anyone working on the post-bac app, do we need to answer each question thoroughly? Or is it more of a guideline? Some of the questions can be answered with a sentence or two so I wasn't sure.

Hi hm37,

I decided to teach myself some nursing pharm principles before our program began. Rumor has it they may be changing it for your cohort, but we took two quarters of pharm in 8 weeks which was a LOT and FAST. Most people did fine without brushing up though, just be prepared to work ahead as much as you can during the class! If you're feeling super motivated, I would say maybe take a look at those principles, brush up on your pre-reqs (especially anatomy/physiology: this will be helpful for pathophysiology!).

(Again though, most people didn't do much prep-work and everyone did just fine.)

As far as post-bac goes: yes, you should answer all of their questions. Some of them require more fleshing out than others, just make sure you answer their questions entirely. And yes, sometimes that means a 1-2 sentence answer. I ended up doing some borrowing" from my nursing essay (since UW admin is apparently hanging out around here now I'll chose my words wisely ;)), but not exclusively. They won't officially guarantee” you get in, but I have never heard of anyone being accepted to the ABSN and not to UW. Just answer their questions directly and you'll be fine :).

Thanks mt_girl! I appreciate the insight :)

Hi all!

I had emailed the SON asking about compliance materials for waitlisted students. I received an email back from Ky Pham (the person we're supposed to send materials to):

"Please only send in your compliance items after you have been accepted. However, in the meantime, please get them prepare and ready to go. Thanks for checking.

Sincerely,

Ky Pham

Student Compliance Specialist

UW School of Nursing"

So get your all of your compliance materials completed! But hold onto it until you're admitted. Hope this helps those who are waitlisted as well! Good luck!

Hi, I have been wait-listed as well this year. I was wondering if we were supposed to get some sort of verification that the school got our letter of intent to stay on the waitlist. Has anyone gotten any notification on if they moved down the list at all?

Question for those of you who have submitted the post-bac app!

I'm about to submit, and I just saw this on the application: "School of Nursing applicants must apply separately to the ABSN program for Summer Quarter and the BSN program for Autumn Quarter." Not sure if I'm reading this wrong, but does this mean we have to submit a post-bac app for both Summer Quarter and Autumn Quarter?

No, I think that means that if you are planning on applying to both quarters, you need to submit two applications.

An update to all those on the waitlist, I called 2 days ago and was informed that the waitlist has not moved :(
