@newgradag where did you hear that CVICU is not hiring this cycle? They won't/can't post a unit as an option to pref if that unit isn't hiring. So when you were on the application and it gave those drop downs to choose your first unit pref and second, CVICU was on there. There are some units that were not hiring for October Cohort because hired many during July Cohort and I did see that those units were not in the drop down for selection. I did the fellowship application though, if you did new grad - were you not able to select CVICU as an option?

@Laila24 probably not for at least 3-4 weeks. They go through all of the new grads first and see how many openings are left for fellows. The feb 2024 cohort - for fellows app deadline was by Dec 18th and emails for interviews didn't go out until January 2nd, but that's hard to compare to now since holidays. But I would still think it'll be about 3 weeks for them to go through all of the applications that they received

As far as I remember, the application did not have a unit preference. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) You just applied for critical care, meaning all of available units. (I had 3/5 ICU managers in my interview.) They asked me IN the interview what would be my top three preferences. CVICU was indeed on their sheet for ICU units, but in the interview they said that CVICU would not be hiring for the new grad residency October cohort. I have no idea about the fellowship program hiring for that unit. I don't believe they were false advertising CVICU, the unit descriptions sheet they sent out to everyone that go an interview had all the ICUs on it, just so you were aware what the function of each one was.

They told me during my interview as well that they were not hiring CVICU for October cohort. I had 4/5 ICU managers in my interview, with the only one not there being CVICU.
