Quota for this semester is 100.
117 students were accepted for fall 2010 traditional program- UTMB's biggest class yet. When we were applying we heard of everything from 80 to 100 people would be accepted and it turned out to be much more. It all depends on how many clinical sites they can get and how many instructors are available. The difference between the traditional (sometimes called generic) and the accelerated program is a degree. In order to get into the accelerated program you have to have a bachelor's degree in any other area all ready. Some people who were granted admission to our class were later offered acceptance into the accelerated program even though they didn't apply.
OhOK got you. I am really glad that we are getting feedback from you. Thanks so much! Good luck to you in your nursing career. :)
Talked to utmb today and they said they are reviewing applications now and emails should start going out any day! They will be sending out emails for interviews as well as emails for denials any day now. She said as they are reviewed they will start to send them out. They also said that the interviews are looking like they will be starting toward the end of September. in the past the interviews have all been held on Fridays, but in order to save some time they are going to try to schedule some during the week as well. Interviews will be done one on one, so thats good its not done with a panel of people asking questions! hope this helps everyone!
Kelley2010,
Are you in the 15 month program at UTMB, and are all the classes "face-face" or are any of them online? I am applying for a Spring 2011 entry....and can't seem to find what the class sched is like for either the accelerated program or the more traditional, and the answer will determine which one I try for...
Thanks....
Kwezy girl: thank you for the info. next week thats very close
I just want to wish good luck to everyone here, because I know we all really want to be nurses and we all will eventually be one, no matter what nursing school we end up going to..but I hope we can all make it to UTMB though!!!....

The program I am in is four semesters (Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011, Spring 2012). It differs from the spring start because y'all will have summer classes, while we have the summer off (Spring 2011, Summer 2011, Fall 2011, Spring 2012). Notice that we will both graduate in Spring 2012.
All of the classes are "face to face." There are no online courses in the traditional program, however I can not speak for the accelerated plan. As stated in a previous post though, the accelerated program is only for those who already have a bachelor's degree in another area. Also, the class schedule for the accelerated program is intense. I believe the program spans for one year and consists of twenty hour a semester course load.
I can tell you my class schedule, including labs and clinicals if you like.
kelly2010: i would like to know your schedule all included. :)just so everyone knows, they will only be sending out some emails for interviews next week. the applications they have gone through will go out and then rest will follow in the coming weeks.
monday- patho/pharm 1:00-5:00
tuesday- intro to nursing 9:00-12:00 and health assessment 1:00-3:00
wednesday- adult i 9:00-12:00
thursday and friday rotate. one week we have labs and the next we have clinical.
labs are on thursday and friday from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00.
clinical varies. most people have thursday and friday from 7:00-3:00, however some people have 3:00-7:00. one group got assigned a saturday clinical and will have to go every saturday instead of every other saturday.
