Hey guys!

I am starting the accelerated program at UTMB this spring. I have tons of questions...but most importantly I am stressed about where to live? Is anyone looking for a roommate? Where do you guys plan to live for this program?

Thanks!

I also am starting the accelerated program. Me and my husband actually found a great little duplex to live in 3 blocks from the nursing school. If you find a roommate you can look at http://www.har.com and look at zip code 77550 and look at the places for lease. One place that was very close to campus was this little duplex. http://search.har.com/engine/1408-Strand-St-Galveston-TX-77550_HAR1300854.htm I know they had a one bedroom all bills paid for 650 and you can walk to school from there. Otherwise there are a TON of super cute houses. If we werent going to ge living off of one income I would jump all over them!

Hey there... for those of you who already accepted offers, did you get any more information from them after that? how long did it take to show up? I still can't find anything online to accept, so I dropped off my forms in person yesterday. Oh yeah, and they said that they'd take my history class... YAY!

Hi Toasterbell,

It took about 5 days after I sent in my acceptance package for things to change on E-connect. Still haven't heard from financial aid, though.

Congrats!

Deb.

I talked to someone in the financial aid office today. She said if you received a scholarship they pretty much just assume you are taking it. Also if they have you no longer pending you can go to this website for financial aid to accept. https://financialaid.utmb.edu/regent_portal/

You can only sign in after they have you as accepting the offer. I could not figure out how to accept online either so I sent in my things as well.

Congratz to all the new students for spring 2010! If yall have any question about Nursing school hit me up!

I'll try my best to reply all messages.....

Paul - C/O 2010

Hi Paul,

I had a question about the PDA and nursing software for it. What PDA do you use and is it used often? Do you use all the software the SON recommends? Should we go ahead and purchase before starting in Jan?

Last question: what is the one thing you wish someone had given you a heads up on about starting nursing school?

Thanks so much!

Deb:)

Hey Paul,

Do you live on the island or do you commute? How often do you have to go to campus? Where do most of the students live on the island? I'm planning on moving to the island, but don't know where yet. Any advice would be great!

Thanks,

Sarah

Any newly accepted UTMB student of SON looking for roommate? I have being looking for one bed room apartment close to school but it seems like you get a better deal with 2 bedroom...

I talked to an agent this morning, he suggested that to me..to look for a student room mate to get a 2 bedroom with 2 baths...price $700-$750/month

Let me know if you are interested

Thanks

Hey Paul!

I was going to ask about the PDA software, but Deb beat me to it. Could I just download the software they want us to use onto the phone I already have since it is a PDA (I have a blackberry)? I'm just trying to find ways to save money, have you heard of anyone else doing this?
