100 applicants? thats all? GREAT!!!!! errrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Is everyone on this thread apart of the 15 month program or the accelerated program? I was curious to what the first semester schedule was like for both programs. I am trying to figure out which one will be the better option. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I know you guys are already in the nursing program and I've applied for Spring 2011 at UTMB. I would like to ask a few questions regarding the schedule for the Generic BSN. What are your usual days and times of instructions do you go every day of the week? Do you have the option to choose clinicals close to the area where you live and days? I'll greatly appreciate your response. Thank you

I'm still wishy washy about applying to another school...I ONLY want to go to UTMB. Guess I better get off the fence soon..time is running out. I'm taking Chemistry and Pathophysiology in the fall and if I apply to PV I will have to take philosophy.

I know this was written a while ago, but I was wondering where you took your pathophysiology and was it accepted at utmb for credit in the nursing program. I have no courses to take this semester before knowing if I get in to UTMB, UTHSC or TWU. I just don't know what school offers it to take before acceptance to nursing school.

Hi everpark -

I actually took Patho last fall via the Univ of Wyoming (all the TX classes were full) and it was a very thorough / interesting / educational course - I highly recommend. I put in apps to the three schools you named and so far, none of them have posted that course automatically as part of my transfer credits as of yet.....I think my next step is to call the schools and discuss this particular course if I don't want to repeat it - can let you know what I hear if you'd like....

Hi TXjeepgirl

That's very informative. I'm assuming you took it online. I suppose you are waiting to see if it will transfer and take as a credit? Let me know what you hear. I just don't have any courses to take semester and would like to keep my mind going and pre-prepared for nursing school. However, I think I have thought of it too late. They seem they are all full, probably like you encountered. I was hoping that UTA-academic partnership would get on the ball with my application, but they are horrible. I applied in April and still haven't gotten any response to just entering UTA...not the pre nursing program where you can take pharm and patho. So you applied to UTHSC, TWU and UTMB as well? Are you done with prereqs?

Hi back, everpark - Pathophys is a perfect class to keep your memory fresh and I am actually reviewing the units again this fall on my own just for that purpose!

My class at Wyoming was online and was not the most interactive - really just self-teaching with you and a ginormous textbook. The other great thing to try might be the pathophys study guides you can get at B&N, etc. Those aren't as in-depth, but would intro you to the class and provide a more organized unit for review each week - I used them last fall each week as assistance since the textbook was so detailed....

Yes, I applied to all three schools for Spring 2011 BSN entry - really, really hoping I get in somewhere! I am done with all pre-reqs except literature and the two history classes, so I am doing those online this fall and working as a CNA... :-)

Thats informative. So you don't know if they accept that course as a transfer to any of the schools you applied to? I'm really hoping fot UT. Scared because I feel like this year there will be a ton of applicants, not like their wasn't before! 2nd choice would be UTMB. I just keep waiting for UTA to accept me to the basic school so I can take Patho and Pharm...or at least one of them. They have a 12 week course that starts late September, but I applied in April and still no word. Even after phone calls....

I just got off the phone with UTHSC about my pathophys credits - the BSN admissions counselor said that the course could not count towards elective hours b/c it is a course in their curriculum and that if I was interested in getting credit for the course and taking something different (I think they offer Advanced Pathophys), I would have to petition directly with the instructor after I was accepted.

Is anyone working during the program?
