I filled out the FASFA because I had to in order to get a loan through the school. I won't get any free money from the government because I'm still considered a dependent, since I'm under 24, and my parents make good money. (even though they aren't helping me) So I have to take out a student loan to cover living and school expenses for one year.

I think the scholarship is a one time thing. Since we didn't have to apply for it the first time I don't see why we would start after the first semester. Has anyone started buying their supplies yet? (ie shoes, books, scrubs, etc)

I wonder if the generic students get one too? That would be sweet

She said the scholarship was a one time thing.

hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone has heard anything from utmb's genieric program like when they will be finished making their decisions. the wait is killing me!

Hey Sarah Ashley-

I am moving to galveston or the clear lake area to start the program. I am not sure if you have plans yet, but if you are looking for a roommate, I am too! You can contact me through private message about it.

Hi All is on,

I've bought my shoes and stethoscope, but nothing else yet. I'm going to get my books used, if possible. The only ones I've found online used are the Pharm, Patho and Drug calculation books. I'll probably go ahead and purchase.

I've been looking at the scrubs online. Have you found any for less than 21 and 25 bucks for top and pants, respectively?

It looks like the software is going to cost over $200. Have you purchased it, yet? What kind of PDA are you getting or do you have? I'm thinking about the ipod touch.

Take care,

Deb.:)

hopefulbacc2010 - I have an iPhone and used to own an iPod Touch. I HIGHLY recommend them. They're AWESOME!!!!

Hey All,

A question for the Bacc2s - on your financial aid portal - the "cost of attendance", does this really include tuition and books for the year? I figured tuition/fees and books would cost about 13-14k total for the whole program, so if I subtract this number, the remainder is for living expenses, insurance, etc..??

I was going down to UTMB to talk to them about it since I'm kinda freaking out. There's less than 6 weeks until orientation. If anybody has any questions they want asked, please let me know and I'll ask the fin aid peeps.

All the best,

Deb.

Thanks toasterbell,

I'm gonna see if I can snag one on Black Friday.

Hey Deb,

How did you get your login information for the financial aid portal? I faxed in the sheet that requests access, but haven't heard anything.
