I tried to find a thread on this but no luck. I'm going to be applying to these two schools this fall and I'm completely torn between them. I've been to both open houses and I have loved what I've seen so far. I would be happy going to either of these schools for the bsn program. One of the schools takes the Hesi a2 exam and the other takes the Teas v. I haven't taken either of the exams yet, but I plan on taking them soon.
Does anyone attend either of these bsn nursing programs, and if so, did you apply to the other one as well? Why did you choose the school you're attending?
UTHSC is closer to my house by about 30 minutes. Utmb has cheaper parking from what I've heard than UTHSC.
They both do clinicals at some of the same hospitals according to some utmb nursing students I've spoken to. Utmb has the 3rd ranked sim lab in the country, so that's pretty big. If I understand correctly, UTHSC last semester of their program is nothing but clinicals and one online class. They basically save their clinicals to the end (I think) and utmb does clinicals through out the program. Utmb will set you up one on one with a nurse during your last semester in the hospital and field you request which basically sets you up with a job.
Again, this is what I've heard from nursing students that are currently in the bsn nursing program at utmb.
I'm completely torn between these two schools that it's getting down to the nitty gritty for picking which one I will attend. Of course if I get accepted to one and not the other then that solves my problem, but if I get accepted to both then I have no idea. I'm a veteran, so my school is completely paid for. The prices aren't a factor in my decision.
Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you in advanced.
Anyone?

They are both good schools and you will do great in either one!
You do clinical every semester with UTH, but just one per semester until that last semester. The last semester you "live the life of a nurse" by having so much clinical experience at once.
I would suggest applying to both and worrying about having to chose if you get into both.
Maybe destiny will chose for you and put you accepted into only the right program for you :)

Hi! Which one did you end up choosing? I got into both utmb and uthealth and I'm so confused on where to go!

I chose UTMB. I absolutely love the campus and I feel like personally I would get the best education there. I've talked with current students who all love the program and it's just a friendly environment. It never once felt cut throat or like students were against each other not that the other school did, but I never got a chance to talk with current students there. I know some people in other semesters at utmb who have already lent a helping hand to me, and some of my friends from my cc will also be there in the fall with me. Utmb is closer to my house and I won't be having to battle down town traffic to get to school every morning. These are some of the factors that led to my decision at utmb, but I know they're both excellent schools and neither school is a wrong choice. The students at both schools have tremendous nclex pass rates and an overall great education. Good luck with your decision, I know it's a tough one to make. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. P.s. in my op I noted that uth was closer to my house for me, but before I got accepted to utmb I moved further south, so now utmb is closer to me. Just to avoid confusion.
