Hi everyone,
I applied to UTMB for the Bacc-2 and didn't make the cut. Now I'm waiting to hear back for the regular BSN program. My application has been complete at UTMB since September.
Anyone else apply to UTMB?
Does anyone know when we might hear something?? I know it is still very early.
thanks
Hey Everyone! :wink2:
I recently applied for the Bacc 2 program at UTMB. Im done with all my pre-req courses including patho (Praise God!) and now im working full-time and volunteering at night in the Pediatric and Adult ER at LBJ Hospital.
I just called UTMB and they said that they've been really busy so they haven't processed any applications yet. They said hopefully we'll receive letters by the end of this month or October.
Well... i just wanted to know if anyone knows abt their process and what it takes to get an interview. I got a 4.0 in my science pre-req but for my overall grade... Im not so sure bc i have to calculate all my grades from my previous degree and all the pre-req courses i took for nursing. I sent off my personal statement.. but.. of course.. it still worries me bc im not sure if it was good enough...
Anyways...does anyone have any idea of how many applicants applied for the BACC 2 program?
Well I wish everyone lots and lots of luck because this waiting is killing me!
I have applied to the summer 2009 program but I was told that they look at your overall GPA, science GPA & your personal statement that you sent in with the application. If you are called for an interview they also use that as a deciding factor. Not sure if Bacc-2 goes by same criteria but my opinion would be it would be close to that.
They extended the deadline from July 15th to October 15th for Generic BSN so the wait is tough. I was told we probably wouldn't see any calls for interviews until December. Yuck!!
Good Luck to you.
OMG... congratulations!
Can you tell me more abt the BACC2 program? I mean.. I know it's fast pace and you have to scarifice a lot, but can you share what you've learned and give us some pointers?! Do you know what they're looking for as a student? I really want to get into the BACC2 prgram at UTMB. How was the interview?!
As far as the interview goes, I know that having some type of healthcare experience helps. I think that was a big deciding factor between people who got in and those who didn't. The program is fast paced but you do have to make time for yourselves otherwise you'll end up a prude!!! LOL LOL! Seriously, you do need to make time for yourself and they do make a lot of minute mistakes as far as communication across the board and that causes for a lot of frustration amongst students and faculty. But a lot of our problems are solved during seminar where you talk about problems. However, there are some days where you feel you are wasting your time and that those situations could have been handled in a much easier way!

Hey Jess,
Its Debra. I changed by name from StoryofEster. Not sure I like this one either. Must be the mood.
How's nursing school going? I haven't had a chance to thank you for spending time with us at the open house. Very informative. It made me feel really good that they had an older person in the program speak to us as well. So I know there's hope that regardless of your age, it can happen.
I want to volunteer but the problem is time. I work full time and I'm trying to finish up my pre-reqs on top of being present in the home a few nights a week so my teenage son doesn't think he can run free all week. Next week I start Pathophisology so again no time in the evenings. I'm hoping by Spring 2009 when I'm all done taking classes I can start to volunteer at a hospitals to work 12-20 hrs a week. Do you think they will hold that against me too much if I don't have any healthcare experience?
