Omg I am so excited but trying not to get that excited if I dont get the job but I can't help it!!! Lol. So I went on a interview today for CM UR. Don't know really anything about it. I am a Tele nurse 3 yrs experience but in serious need of a m-f job to be able to have care for my 7m old son. I know that UR reviews charts and communicates with insurance companies and stuff. The hours, pay and benefits looks awesome, but I don't know how I will do at a desk job and am sad i won't get patient interaction. I can't really stay still. I have a second interview Wednesday. Any go from floor nursing to UR?? If I get offered I can't say no because I don't really have anyone to watch my son for weekends and the long ass 12hr shifts.

I would suggest you know all about it before your next interview. Utilization review requires many skills, no LOL about it.

I suppose it is different strokes for different folks. For me, the absence of direct patient care is one of the major perks of working a desk job.
Well it turns out, I had another interview with transplant CM at the same hospital. Pretty confident I got the job. After my interview they sent me an email saying they are sending my info to HR. I so would rather have transplant CM than UR. I am so excited to start something new! ! I will still get patient interaction, and 6 months of training! After going on the second interview with the UR I probably would of turn the job down because it seems like I wouldn't like that job.

LOL...the precise reason I enjoy case management so much is because I no longer receive any patient interaction. I do not miss the patients one bit now that I have been away from them for a while.I suppose it is different strokes for different folks. I just accepted a Utilization management position. I'm so happy to be away from bedside almost 11yrs!
Which job did you end up taking?
