Utica University ABSN Albany, Latham

Published

Looking to connect with the Fall 2024 cohort for this program. The negative reviews on this program is endless but I am committed. Let's form study groups, we can finish this strong cause I'm not about wasting money and efforts. Open to connect with the other Utica ABSN programs as well since the materials would be similar and we could study together.

Yeah, I'm in the AM lab and I'm in the group chat but so far haven't made a concrete group yet. I am definitely motivated and also want to form a group with likeminded classmates. I've spoken with upperclassmen who have said to expect about half of the class dropping out after the first semester so that really motivated me to try to find those with a good background knowledge and work ethic. But some people in my AM lab seem either lost or in their own groups/working independently.

How much should you expect to spend on rent for a place near the program site ? Is it fair to expect something around $1.2-$1.5k?

Nicole, I'll come to the hangout room on site on Tuesday a little early for the 12:30 lab so we can exchange contact info! Our schedules are a bit different but we'll prob meet up before exams on off days to study on site together.

Ahsan, spot on with the pricing! There are a few furnished apts across from UAlbany that are about ~$1100 - $1400/mo after everything. Safe area but you'll need a car staying here (about 15 mins drive to Utica site). Depending if you have a roommate or not (2-3 beds versus studio). There are a few other classmates who rent on the same block as me so we probably will carpool later/bad weather days.

Could I expect a single room for myself to be around $1.4k ?

this is all very helpful. Thank you everyone

Ahsan,

Yes! My studio at 1395 at the Hudson is about $1.4K. I was debating between this and Astro (down the street) because they were about the same price, both furnished. One is a newer building versus the other and has an actual gym versus a room with treadmills and yoga mats at Astro... the only downfall for the Hudson is they only sign yearly leases but the program is 16months long, so you'll either sign 1 year and figure out the rest later or you sign an extra year but find a someone to sublease (you'll have to pay a $500 fee to sublease to someone else). Versus Astro, you can sign a 16 months lease with them.

Sounds good! I also have an apartment in Albany with white boards and conference rooms to study in/utilize as well.

Hi. I'm applying for the Jan 2025 start date. Is there anyone I can message regarding applications ?

Hey Ashan,

I am also applying for the Jan 2025, I'm not sure if I could be much help but I would also like to be added into the group. A little anxious based off of all the negative reviews, but determined! 😃

Hi hiixx, were you able to find the club? I'm assuming I'd need 15 posts to be able to find it unless I'm invited to join the club by Nicole. Are you starting this fall or the Spring? At Albany or main campus location?

Hello ddo,

im looking to start in Jan. 2025, have you started for the Fall or are you starting in the Spring 25'?

Hi Maraj,

I started this fall of '24. The negative reviews were my biggest concerns too so I brought them up to my registration counselor. She said those are mainly from other locations. So far I think the program is quite well planned. It is a lot of work (more efforts than a 9-5 job) and the first 2 weeks were the biggest challenge to most of us but once you get the hang of the schedule, your studying style and how the exams work, it gets easier, at least that's how it is for me..

It is a relief to hear that! Thank you, another question would be how are clinicals I'm looking to start an overnight weekend track job but I wonder if it would conflict with clinicals considering it could be scheduled during the weekend day right? & would it be a better idea to just do a regular Part time overnight that could fall during the week instead of the weekend.

We don't have the clinical schedule yet and it starts toward the end of October for us. I believe they'll be scheduled only on weekdays for the first semester at least, unsure how the next semesters schedule will be like

Thank you for your replies! Nice to know people actually go here because it was starting to feel like no one went here LOL because I couldn't find any community online,  I wish yall the best! Happy Studying! 📚 🎉
