Can anyone who has attended the Utica ABSN program in Florida PLEASE give me some kind of reviews from your experience? It’s so hard to find reviews and it’s starting to steer me away.
Honestly with this program you will be teaching yourself. The professors will not teach you, they used to have live sessions where they would teach but they had gotten rid of it. Therefore the only "teaching" you would get is from office hours...that's if the professor knows what they are talking about especially since there is so much confusion with the new textbooks. Therefore, you will be told to study what is given off the blueprint and be tested on something completely different, making studying 10x harder than what it needs to be. As far as lab, the professors do have favorites, therefore if you're a quiet individual be prepared to be called on...Points will be taken off assignments for every little mistake such as grammar, yet there are so many grammatical errors on the exams. Be prepared to have an exam every week, it will be to the point where you feel super overwhelmed. Be prepared to come with your writing skills because if you have plans on cheating your way through a discussion, you will get caught. Be prepared to focus on not letting you're grade go below a 77% especially for classes that require you to have a 77% exam average to pass the class because they will fail you and make you retake the entire course even the clinical no matter if you passed the clinical or not. Begging for them to give you the extra points will not get you anywhere in this program. Also, do not let these admissions advisors fool you into this program because they will tell you that you will be taught but in reality you will be sitting at the computer for more than 12+ hours just to teach yourself. The only thing that will truly teach you in this program in is clinicals (if you get a good instructor) or YouTube videos. If you do not believe anything I said, take it with a grain of salt and go through this program yourself and you will understand my frustrations just like everyone else in Utica. You will also notice their NCLEX rates are high, but that is because you have to look at how many people are taking the NCLEX... at the end of the day, the NCLEX is an individual effort, and they use that to showcase that they prepped their students for the NCLEX, but it is the student who does the studying to pass.
Thanks for posting this. I spoke with and adviors today and she made it seem like the program was great. But after doing my research and all the reviews it sounds like a horrible program. I’ll pass.
