UTI and penile piercing

Hey guys question. If I get a patient with UTI and needs foley catheter but has member pierced do we get piercing out ? Does patient get it out or we insert catheter with piercing in place? Thanks

If the piercing complicates insertion, it's gotta go. My concern would be are there any issues with leaving the piercing out, as is the case with trachs and g-tubes and if so, perhaps it could be reinserted after successful placement of foley. Warning: I haven't the fogiest when it comes to piercings so if you get me as your nurse, be alert et oriented or have instructions for removal of piercing tattoed in close proximity. :D:D:D

I agree with you, and would not want to poke holes in these parts a well. I have asked a friend or two who had these sorts of things done . . . and tell me that it is pleasurable? It may be for them - but not for me and if your in my ambulance or in my hospital bed and it interferes with good care, it is coming out . . . and getting clean
