UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 14

Published

Hello! So I had seen threads started for past classes and didn't see one yet for the Fall of 2014 class, so I figured I would start one. So let me introduce myself. My name is Will Long, I am a 27 years old male and I am applying for UTHSCSA's Traditional BSN program for the Fall of 2014. I have started my application and have signed up to take the TEAS test next Friday. I am pretty excited about finally being able to apply after finishing up all the pre-reqs. Anyways I was hoping this thread could be used a source of information and a place to ask each other questions throughout the application process. Anybody else out there applying? Have you already taken your TEAS test?

Well I guess i'll be stuck. I have L as my last name. I think the next step would be paying the fee to secure your spot. I've looked up the registration dates and I think it's on July 1st.

How do you know it goes alphabetically?

Hello!

So ive been stalking this thread and i have a question for you all. I am currently almost done with my first semester of science pre reqs for uthscsa and I should be ready to apply to the BSN program by feb 1st of 2015. I was wondering when you all took your TEAS V exam? I just ordered my study guide with the practice tests and was wondering if I should take it sooner than a month or two before I send my application to the admissions office

Taking a month or two early would be what I recommend. I took mine about a month before the application was due and didn't have any hang ups or problems.

All this waiting is making me lose sleep.. I woke up in the middle of night just checking my email.. As if they'll be sending those email so early in the morning. I guess I'm really just slightly obsessed. Lol

haha I did the same thing last night. I was all checking my email at midnight like they were going to surprise us with emails in the middle to the night.

I would take it once for practice the semester before. Then take it again before the deadline you need to apply for. :)

Ok! I think I'll take it in the summer so that I can focus on microbiology and nutrition in the fall. And as soon as those classes are done I'll have about a month to get all my stuff together to apply!

I took it the first time just for practice because I stress out on any test I take for the first time. You never know how it will be. Then the second time, I was able to focus more for it and I did great. :)

I took mine nearly 3 months prior to the deadline, to ensure all of the information got there in time, no weird problems surfaced, etc. I wouldn't cut it closer than 2 months, but that's just me. Also, NursingCAS is a BEAR. You need to send in your transcripts as early as possible, and all of them. Putting in all of your classwork takes a great deal of time as well on that application. They will not cross check your transcripts to your classes until all of them are in, and it takes time to request them, have them reach NursingCAS, get checked in, and processed. Also, if you took AP classes, and it was greater than 5 years ago by the time you apply, ensure you have those scores available for your pre-reqs. As I found out, calling the office is most invaluable. They are very kind, treat you with respect, and they never seemed annoyed with my dumb questions.

In the craziness of this all I think we can find one thing to be really thankful for. THANK GOD that the deadline didn't get extended lol

Every new email makes my heart beat out of my chest like calm down girl

I agree WlongTX...I feel like my whole life is on hold right now, I've made so many life changes to get to this point that I just want to know...PATIENCE...a virtue I need!!!

Here's to hoping we all get to meet soon and joke about all of this stressing out!
