UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN 2017

Any UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN 2017 hopefuls that are looking to start the application process?

I am looking forward to applying to the Accelerated Nursing BSN program at UTHSCSA starting May 2017. I'm hoping there are others out here doing the same! We can give each other some support to get through this process together :)

Does anyone know the exact date the application opens? I know it closes on December 15th but I'm not sure when we can start the application process.

I got my acceptance on Monday!

Hey y'all! I am excited to meet everyone. My email is [email protected].

Hi, everyone!

I am currently applying to UTHSCSA Fall 2017. I was wondering if those who were accepted could share their GPAs and TEAS 6 scores if you guys don't mind. I'm interested in how mine stack up with yours considering the new exam ATI TEAS 6.

I received an 84 on the TEAS 6

The accelerated has different stats than the traditional track (that starts in fall 2017) and you can view it on the school's website. I just recently got accepted into the accelerated track that starts in May 2017. I received a 90 on the TEAS 6, and have a 3.67 cumulative GPA, and a 3.4 math/science! I hope this helps and good luck!!

Congratulations to all that were accepted! Buckle up you're in for a wild ride. Make sure to start the background check and your immunizations EARLY. These holds take a WHOLE LOT of time (days-weeks) to have removed, so turn them in ASAP or you will still have a hold at registration time -- especially if you're out of state due to having to mail in your finger print card. Also the modules are really boring and you will probably want to space them out. They have not released the syllabi for summer 2017 yet but I anticipate that there will not be much of a change from summer 2016 (do not use traditional syllabi as comparison the classes for that program are slightly different) so you can get a feel for what to expect. Once the updated syllabi are posted -- order your textbooks! The only recommended ones that are worth the $ are the patho study guide (5th Ed NOT 6th) and the clinical companion for foundations/med surg (health assessment CC is completely up to you). There is no need to purchase the APA style guide or the "required" books for professional Socialization right away because all but one has a link to an online version. Hope this information helps, if you have any more specific questions when stuff gets closer feel free to ask.

Would you mind adding yourself to our Facebook group? Just search UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN 2017-2018. We could use insight for when things start rolling.

I have scheduled for my immunization antibody tests and Dr sign off for this upcoming week. We haven't received any info on the background check yet tho :/

Hi all,

I got my acceptance letter 10 days ago as well. I have already added myself to the Facebook group. Looking forward to meeting all of you in May.

No problem! Best of luck to you.

92 TEASV

87.3 TEASVI

3.0 cumulative (I got a lot of C's & D's my first two years of college, but got straight A's and B's my next 4 years as a Biology major while working as a teacher as well; they love to see growth and perseverance)

3.7 prerequisite GPA (I don't believe they add the multiple attempts for this calculation, hence why mine was so high).

Put a lot of time into your personal essay, I hear that's one of the things they consider the most. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have.

I'm late to the party (didn't see this thread until just now), but I got in too! Can't wait to meet everyone! Thanks for all the advice!

Also late to the party. I just requested to join the FB group.

Is anybody (past or present) familiar with the specifics in verifying state residency for in-state tuition rates? I believe I have lived in Texas long enough (barely) to make the cut off, however I just would like to know how picky they are about the exact date of residency (i.e. does it have to be one year to the day of the first day of classes - May 8 2016 - or would moving to Texas within a couple weeks of that date suffice?)
