UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

My status has not changed on myUTH as of yet... I am hoping it will change after tomorrow. I went ahead and e-mailed her back regarding my To-Do List because now it shows "Proof of TSI satisfaction required" however I have already done that. Anyone else's To-Do List show this requirement?

Hoping it gets cleared up after tomorrow! How exciting is this?! We need to start a FB page!

Can someone start a FB page already?!

Haha well health assessment doesn't have lecture, just lab time. Care you'll be in the skills lab until you start clinicals, and there's maybe 1 or 2 sim labs or something after that.

They're switching to pacesetter only next spring. Yeah you just do all your lectures during the first 3 semesters, and I think you do care 1 and psych clinicals. Third semester you have no clinicals. 4th is all clinicals, and don't forget those awful care plans, plus you still have to take the exit hesi. I'm in the traditional program so I can't talk about the pacesetter program from experience.

Hello, how can one prepare for the accelerated program? I will start in May. Should I review a&p. Review basic math and conversions?

Just got off the phone with BMK and was informed that all of the emails have yet to be sent out. She has confirmed that she is still sending the emails to those of us on the wait list ... She has been very busy with the new semester enrollees ... Was told to watch for my email next week! I did ask if it was a for sure thing (my anxieties were getting the best of me) and she said yes, we have nothing to worry about. anyway, I hope this helps alleviate any worries/doubts/anxieties.

Congratulations to all on the wait list who have been accepted for summer 2014!

Although I am happy for you guys, I am confused as to why they would take everyone off of the spring wait list and give them summer spots. Why ask those who have been denied, like myself ( with perfectly competitive grades), to reapply? Now there are 20 spots less for summer semester applicants. Seems unfair to me. The wait list should be only for the semester you applied.

Before I get any hate responses, this is NOT directed toward anyone in this situation, but towards the SCHOOL, who at every turn has made this process confusing and, plainly, unfair. I guess they can do whatever they want though...

Thanks for letting me rant

I see your point. However, the people who were waitlisted would have been accepted if there were more spots available for the spring semester. So it seems like they were just thinking ahead. Also, summer deadline was December 1st so I am sure most if not all waitlist applicants already applied for a summer just in case they were not taken off the waitlist.

True, but since their selection process seems to be somewhat random, it makes it unfair to the people who applied for summer. I could understand if it went by order of GPA or test scores or something, but it doesn't.

Anyway, good luck to everyone who is starting!!! I truly am happy for everyone, just critical of their process. Hope to be with you all soon :-)

Hey, why is everyone talking about "learning styles and personality styles"?

I didn't do this part of the HESI. I only did the 6 sections mentioned on the UT website -Math, reading comp, grammar, vocab, A&P, and critical thinking.

Per the instructions on this page https://nursing.uth.edu/prospstudent/admit-bsn.htm

I don't see anywhere where it says to take the learning styles, personality styles part... :/

Learning styles and personality test are a portion you are supposed to take! It is not a graded portion though. I posted the link on where to find this info.

I would call the school and double check!

I did, this morning. They said not to worry about it, as they don't even look at it.

Still, bastards should put it on the page I linked to.

This won't be the first time they confuse the hell out of you...

I gave up emailing the registrar/admissions address given on my myUTH asking if they received my transcripts and then asking who I should ask to find out if they were received. They just kept sending back the same one line answer.

It was even more entertaining when I originally decided to apply and went to the school itself and was turned away. They told me I need to go home and apply online and that I couldn't use a computer there to fill out an application. Ha! I just wanted to talk to someone and show them my transcripts to see if it was even worth applying yet depending on what would transfer etc.

It's been like trying to get a dinner date interview with some hollywood celebrity.

Did you reapply?
