How has everyone’s experience been with their interviews?!

I thought my interview went well but then I started replaying the whole scenario in my head and rethinking what more I should have said ??‍♀️ just ready for days to go by so I know my fate… how was yours?

Does anyone know when they will let us know about their decisions?

Two weeks seems pretty standard? A little late, but there was definitely an intimidation factor from one of the interviewers yesterday. All the others smiled at some point but he was pretty blank. Otherwise, interview seemed to be more a fast pace question and answer on patho questions. They also seemed to prefer answers that went down to the cellular level - I.e. they didn’t want to just know what a drug did they wanted receptors and ions like Calcium influx causes vascular smooth muscle to constrict.

I asked and they said 7 working days from last day of interviewing candidates ( which is today)

I interviewed with them last year and they will let everyone know by the end of next week. This year was different since it was in person and they have had some faculty changes. I didn't feel bad but didn't necessarily feel good either by the end of the interview. The rapid fire threw me because the way he asked wasn't like show me what you know, but more like the vibe of  "are you sure?" I answered appropriately but it was definitely different.

I agree with you on the rapid fire, cos before I could finish answering one question with everything I know they come up with another question from it. It definitely makes me unsure

Yeah I left feeling not so good about my interview but I guess anything can happen… it was definitely all about intimidation and running you into the ground with clinical questions. I was accepted elsewhere but I’m waiting to hear from houston as they are my #1.

I agree with you both. I left not feeling so great but I was also accepted to another program but UTHealth was my first choice. I was actually surprised bc I've had other programs ask me where I applied but they asked me where I was accepted and I was like, Whoa, thats putting me on the spot. They didn't ask anything after it like Why Us? I'm glad to know it wasn't just me though. It was a little confusing as to how to take it all right after I was done and family/friends just don't really understand what all happens and how it feels to go through these interviews. It takes so much to get here and then in 20 minutes, you've either made it the cut or you didn't.

I feel better hearing that others thought the interview was tough as well.
This was my 4th interview, and I've been accepted to 3 other schools so I feel like I am qualified and my interview skills have been sufficient for my past schools, but I left this interview feeling defeated.

It was frustrating driving to Houston only for a 20 minute interview. I felt as if the admissions panel had no interest in getting to know me personally, they only wanted to drill me with in depth clinical questions at the receptor/cellular level. I believe they only asked 2 personal questions, then the rest were clinical based. I even had them ask me why I was even there considering I had other acceptances.

UTHealth had always been my #1 choice, but I definitely had the most negative experience with this interview and at times it felt like they had no interest in hearing about me or letting me finish my thoughts.

The students pre-interview had nothing but great things to say about the school so I guess I will wait and see, but otherwise I'm glad I went into the interview knowing I already had a slot in a different program.

Good luck to all!

I agree - I did leave wondering like man, are those the same faculty the students were saying are so great? And I guess they are being difficult bc the program is difficult and they are just trying to see what happens when you are under pressure. I'm with you, UT is my first choice but I'm also a believer that I'm going to end up where the Lord knows I belong and what's good for me.

Best of luck to you all and hoping to hear good news come next week!
