UTC CRNA Program 2019

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for those that have applied to the cohort starting in 2019 for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's CRNA program. Anyone out there? Look forward to hearing from you all.

Do you mind me asking your stats? I am going to apply next year and just wondering what kind of stats you need to have? For example,

Years of ICU experience?

What type of ICU experience?

Gre?

Who wrote your recommendation letters?

Score on HRSA test?

Ccrn?

Etc. thanks so much!

TNhome - I have 4 years of ICU and 4 years of flight nursing experience. I believe UTC publishes their GRE score requirements on the website so as long as you meet or beat those requirements, you'll be qualified to apply. Some applicants get in with 2 years ICU, some get in with 10 years; it all depends on what you've done to set yourself up to succeed in grad school, how critical the patients you've taken care of are, and how much you want it. CCRN is a must for CRNA school really anywhere you go, even if it isn't posted. And I did fine on the HRSA. I'm not sure how much the HRSA score is weighted, but keep in mind they look at a variety of different data points (including the strength of your personal statement and essay) when determining who gets an interview. Everyone as strengths and weaknesses.

Hope this helps.

Got an email today, I am in!!! Can't wait to start with everyone! Going to be an awesome journey.

I got in. So exciting :)

Congratulations :)

I'm in. If anyone is moving to the area, as I am for school, let me know. May be looking for a roommate.

Hey everyone! This is my second year applying to UTC's program. Congrats to everyone that got in! I got waitlisted this year, haven't heard anything so still hoping. Just wondering if anyone else was in the same position or had any history with being waitlisted. Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I am also accepted for UTC's Nurse Anesthesia program for May 2019! I am so excited! I am moving to Tennessee from Georgia and looking for a potential roommate as well (preferably female). If anyone is in the same boat, please e-mail me and let me know! I am looking forward to starting this journey with everyone! :)

For anyone who interviewed: how was the interview? was it clinical based? Stats of those who were accepted / interviewed?

Hi all, I just received my interview email for the 2020 program. 1st off, how was interview? Is it possible to be scared, excited, determined and nervous all in one...

2nd how os everyone doing? This is not my only option. I know that CRNA school will not all be roses, it is going to be challenging but are most students happy with instructors, clinicals, etc?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you!

I am in the 2021 cohort right now. The interview was the hardest I have ever had and I got into MTSA and worked at lifeflight with a difficult interview. That being said it is doable. The program has been very difficult so far and will continue to be more difficult. However, the clinical opportunities with no anesthesia residents and also the price being one of the lowest in the nation make this a great opportunity. The CRNA you will be when you leave will one of the best new grads in the nation if you ask me. There are only 22 students in my class (after the tupelo, MS students go back to MS). We are a close group and everyone is rooting for / helping each other. This is another great part of the program. MTSA with 70 students, I just can't imagine that type of atmosphere. The instructors are pretty good, some people prefer some over others but I am sure that happens anywhere. The instructors KNOW us all and care about us. We get one on one help and direction, which is also another part of the program I can't imagine with a bigger class. That's what I have to offer, hope it helps!
