UTA Spring 2012

Published

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

Both programs are out of state for me. I don't live in Texas. The other program is at the Medical Branch in Galveston, and from what I can determine, it is a GREAT program. A lot more involved with their BACC 2 students than UTA seems to be. I don't think I am going to get into UTA though. My GPA isn't high enough in my 4 science classes (that is the GPA they use!). So UTMB had an essay and everything that went with their application and I think that is great. Plus I had an interview so they had more than 4 grades to determine whether to let me in or not. Still trying to determine costs of moving/out-of-state tuition, etc.

I've heard nothing but great things about UTMB, so if you've already been accepted there, I would jump at the chance!!!!

You are very fortunate to have already been accepted somewhere. There are a LOT of us still waiting to hear our fate.

I really didn't think I would get in, but getting the acceptance started a TON of thoughts in my mind. I am still trying to determine all the fun things that many people may not think about, insurance (not health - car, renters, hurricane related?), where to live, roommate or not?, how much things will cost (scrubs, stethoscope, etc), along with the regular stuff for a budget, cpr classes, doctor visits, immunizations, etc. It has been a whirlwind.

Thanks for the positive notes about UTMB. Good luck to everyone!

I ready for the letters to go out too!!! ;) I was looking back through old threads for UTA Spring 2011 and those applicants got their letters on Nov 19th!!!! :( I'm praying that UTA has it together this time and we don't have to wait that long!! ugh!! Sorry to be depressing but always a possibility we have a little bit longer of a wait...

ARRRRGGGHHHHHHHH FML!!! I ended up with an 89 in Microbiology :( I am so heartbroken and upset!

Just to update the HAPPY news that the professor gave me that last point to bump me to the 90! :lol2: I honestly did not expect her to to do that. I emailed her about the questions I missed on the Lab Final per the Academic Coach's info to me and asked that she verify what was wrong with my choices. She never did specifically reply, but added a point. I'm just gonna shut up and be happy about it! :yeah: So this means I now have a 3.75 Science GPA. Patho and Pharm are still going on with ECC--not easy, but bearable. I just can't seem to make A's in either one, but I have solid B's.

@libra1018, I'm so glad to hear that you think Patho and Pharm at ECC are hard too!! I'm hanging on too. I think an A might be possible if the patho modules weren't sooo long. It's hard to get excited about doing anything that's 87 pages long!

Has anyone heard if letters have been mailed yet??!!!

Ha! You read my mind @tejas :) Just emailed "B" to check

Hahaha~~ You and I are two peas in a pod!! ;)

I have a theory but that's all it is but here it is.....

They mail out letters on Wed/Thurs so that students get them on Friday/Saturday. That way they don't have to answer all the calls until that Monday!! :( I got my denial for Fall 2011 dated May 5, 2011 and received it in my mail on May 7th. The Spring 2010 class received theirs on Nov 19th (Friday!!). Again, this is a theory (but pretty sure I read on an old thread someone else saying they were told they go out to be in homes on Friday-Saturday). So, again, don't hold me to this but I can understand if they did handle it that way cause with 700 applicants and only so many spots....I AM sure they get a TON of calls!!! Everyone wants to talk to their advisor about what to do now...

So here is to praying we all know soon!!! ;)

So, we are probably looking @ next Friday or Saturday. Errrr.. :sniff:

Has anyone took US History 1 online with the academic partnership?

I took it, it wasn't difficult. I think I got an A or B. What exactly do you want to know.
