UT Tyler, TVCC Questions..Please Help

sorry i couldn't answer sooner, they keep us pretty busy so i haven't logged in in awhile. i'll be level 2 in the spring '04 (@utt-palestine campus). your schedule will depend on how many of the nursing pre-req's you have finished. you can take concepts and patho before you get into the program (i recommend), which will leave you taking 13 hrs for the 1st semester(or it will be 18 hrs. w/ the other 2 classes included).

my schedule:

monday: health assess(ha).(9-12),pharm(1-4)

tuesday: competencies(9-12); *wait around & go to hospital @230 to pick patient for clinical next day(this didnt start till october);concepts (1-3)-if not already taken

wednesd:clinical(8-5)-labs; (630/7-5)-@clinical site

thurs: ha lab(9-12)

*clinicals can either be done on wed, thurs, or fri, ha labs can be done on weds, thurs, patho can be taken wed or fri-just depends on which section you register for.

i like it so far, i'm doing well. i have to spend alot of time studying, because every week there is a test in something. the tests are spaced out to where there are never two tests on 1 day(*except for 1 time).our class has about 25 people, and 22-23 are going to level 2, so only 2 people are in trouble at this time. i think those are good stats for nursing program.

I just found this post, I am new to this web site and to Nursing Education. I have just started my prerequisites at this point. One class down and many to go.... I am attending TVCC Terrell at this point. I do not know what their pass rate is but do need to find that out!!! I have found getting accurate clear information to be a bit of a challenge at the school so far...... Perhaps, I am asking the wrong questions or I am asking the questions wrong...

I have been reading on this web site a lot and have come across several things I knew nothing about that apply to Texas or atleast to the job market area I would be looking in...... Dallas....... I am not sure what I think about this Group One issue I have read about and I seem to be finding very conflicting salary ranges for this area as well........ I have checked America Career Net and Salary Wizard type web sites for salary ranges in Dallas...... I can only hope the information on those sites is accurate and I hope its for a starting RN!!!

I too would be very interested in any information relating to TVCC / Trinity Valley Community College Nursing Program and any personal experiences any one has had with it.......

i am in the tvcc adn program. in the freshman year you go on tuesdays for lecture and you chose your skills/clinical days. the days that are available are mon & wed, wed & thur, or thur & friday and they are half days. i am now in my final year at tvcc and have learned a great deal. i have really enjoyed being in their program. the pass rates are very good. i would recomend tvcc above all the rest!! if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. good luck :balloons:
