  1. Phlembotomy is a course i've been thinking of adding in spring. Seems to be a good "extra" if you know what I mean. A lot more than the Spanish I I'll be taking! LOL Brandy Brandy, You must not live in a border State :) ? In Texas knowing Spanish is a BIG plus in any profession!! Its one I would like to take, as a "extra"! :), but I can sure see where Phlembotomy would be great too!!
  2. WHAT A GREAT and informative reply Gigls2U...... this reply was a help to me also a very new newbie!!
  3. Hi, I just found this post, I am new to this web site and to Nursing Education. I have just started my prerequisites at this point. One class down and many to go.... I am attending TVCC Terrell at this point. I do not know what their pass rate is but do need to find that out!!! I have found getting accurate clear information to be a bit of a challenge at the school so far...... Perhaps, I am asking the wrong questions or I am asking the questions wrong... I have been reading on this web site a lot and have come across several things I knew nothing about that apply to Texas or atleast to the job market area I would be looking in...... Dallas....... I am not sure what I think about this Group One issue I have read about and I seem to be finding very conflicting salary ranges for this area as well........ I have checked America Career Net and Salary Wizard type web sites for salary ranges in Dallas...... I can only hope the information on those sites is accurate and I hope its for a starting RN!!! I too would be very interested in any information relating to TVCC / Trinity Valley Community College Nursing Program and any personal experiences any one has had with it.......
  4. I read the first post, then a few pages of post on this topic......... I find it interesting that the pay seems to vary so much from what the Salary.com / Salary Wizard or Americas Career Info Net web sites say that RN's make. I have checked them for my Area DFW Texas and the salaries I am reading on these post do not seem to match the figures they say!! They base them on first 25% of them 50% of RNs 75% of Rns and 90 % etc......meaning top 10% 25% 50% etc of RNs working....... Salaries of 50% of the working RN's in my area shows to be 49's- $50s yearly for my area according to them.......with a few making a less and a few making more....... so is this not for beginner RNs? They do not say RN's with 10-20 yrs experience... the implication is a RN period.....Its enough to make me call the Human Resource Dept. of a few Major hospitals in Dallas and see what they start a RN at, I wonder if they would tell you that?........ I must admit I am most curious to the accurate answer at this point.......... Myself I will be working for a paycheck to make a living, as well as to do something I feel is very worthwhile!! But on the same hand I would hate to go thru all this school to then find out I was very wrong about what the salary is..... the only research I did on salary was check the web sites that are set up for finding salaries...... I think I should do more now! Some of the hourly wages for RN's I have read on this thread seem very low to me :uhoh21:
  5. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! I think this will give a lot other people determination as well, and help them to keep trying!!! Congratulations!!
