UT Tyler FNP Spring 2018

Nursing Students NP Students

Hello everyone. I have applied for the Spring 2018 FNP program at UT Tyler and am wondering about what they look for specifically when giving acceptance? I have a 4.0 GPA so I'm not worried about that, but what other factors are considered heavily? I'm just nervous that I may not get in. I spoke with one of their admissions people via chat and he said they had 100 applications the last go round and only accepted 40 students so that's a little disheartening! Anyway, anyone know or have any advice on this??

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I applied to the Spring 2018 program and found out today that I was not accepted. This is strange to me since my GPA is 3.84 and my friend received an acceptance letter with a GPA of 3.78. I hear they favor students who received their BSN from there, and I went to UT Arlington. I am pretty discouraged as UT Tyler was a school that sought me out and asked me to apply.

I did my bachelors degree at UTA as well. I have a 4.0 so maybe that's why I was accepted. That is weird that you didn't get accepted with your GPA and your friend did. I'm not sure what else they looked for! I'm sorry :(

Cwgirl,

can you give me pointers on your application? I've applied twice but no luck and I'm just not getting what I'm doing wrong... i emphasized my research, and what I've been doing in between studies (MBA) to build my resume and experience. ;( did you make a video? Essay?

Hi there. I did the video and kept it short and sweet. I explained my varying clinical background and working in all areas of the hospital from neonates to the elderly and explained that I am a hard worker as well. I let them know I waited to go back to school until my kids were grown. That is really it aside from my 4.0 average. I have no research or published anything at all. Hope this helps!
