  1. I’m unsure if you know but the job market is TOUGH! There are many people who have graduated and cannot find a job after 2 years of looking in the DFW area. My advice……line up preceptors now as they are hard to come by, network, network, network. Treat every clinical as a job interview and do your absolute best. If you don’t know the answer when they ask a question, tell them you will research it and be able to tell them the next day or do it on your lunch break. Make every encounter count and leave a good impression so you can possibly find a job afterwards. Just my two cents!
  2. I’m sorry, but it is for 40 hours. They do have an hour built in for lunch I’m sure.
  3. It is about $46/hr based on 52 weeks/yr at 40 hrs per week. It is still relevant to where you work for sure. I agree with you though, having some experience and getting your foot in the door is better than nothing. Not everyone can pick up and move to an area with a market that isn’t saturated.
  4. I just used her crash course review.
  5. Thank you! If I can help at all, I will do my best, just let me know!
  6. Do you know the material? Are you doing practice questions? Take the Sarah Michelle Crash Course review from facebook. She will bring it all together for you. How long have you been a nurse? Do you feel like your school prepared you well? I graduated 12/12 and tested 12/16 and passed. My program prepared us well the entire last semester and we did APEA predictor exams that were way harder than the exam. Maybe try one and see where your weak areas are and work on those areas prior to your next attempt. Do you have bad test anxiety? Have you thought about getting a prescription for a beta blocker prior to testing? Just some food for thought.
  7. Hi. I just recently graduated December 12th and passed my exam the first time on the 16th. The real question is, do you know the material? That is first and foremost. Next, do the Leik book questions. Then, there is a review, crash course on facebook, her name is Sarah Michelle and she ties it all together. The exam was so simple. We did APEA predictor exams in my program and those were a million times harder than the certification exam! Know your stuff and go get it done ?
  8. Absolutely not. That is not something you put in the patient’s chart. This does need to be escalated to HR though if management isn’t addressing it but never document this in the chart.
  9. Write her up. Keep writing her up. Go to HR about it. There had to be a paper trail in order for anything to be done.
  10. You are correct. I was in an RN-BSN program. I misread this post and I apologize for the misunderstanding but I also worked full-time while doing my LVN to RN program as well so it is doable.
  11. The literature course wasn’t bad at UTA. I think I had to read two books maybe. It wasn’t bad at all. It will be cheaper through a community college, but the course wasn’t bad through UTA.
  12. This program was very easy. I worked full-time without any problems while doing the BSN program.
  13. Sorry, just saw this! This is my last semester of my first year and I have been once and will go one more time this semester. It has only been two times since I started true program!
  14. Capstone sucked actually because you don't have direction. I made a 100 in it though. It isn't hard, but they give you absolutely NO direction so you are 100% on your own!! It is frustrating, but you will be fine!
