Posted

Wanted to start this thread for all those who are planning on applying or have applied.

Do you know the name of the recruiter or hiring manager we put on the cover letter? I can't find a name anywhere!

I'm sorry, I don't. I just put nurse recruiter for mine since I couldn't find a name.

Received an email today about choosing a second preference unit to "complete my application"

I also received this email! I applied to UT stating in my cover letter I preferred women’s services-L&D, did she mention in the email about being interested in Med/Surg as the secondary track selection?

Yes! I don't really want Med Surg though LOL so I just put what I preferred. I guess they need more people for it

OK, yeah same haha! I just replied and said I preferred OR, but would be interested in Med/Surg as well. I’ll take anything I can get at this point LOL

I also received this email today! I hope that this is a good sign. I put my two top choices, but I wish there was a way to let them know any unit would be awesome LOL. Thanks so much for starting this thread! At this point, it's just nice to relate to others 🙂

Does anyone know when they will start interviews?

Hey, so I received an email asking for my secondary track? Did anyone else get this?

Yes, I did as well

Has anyone heard anything else? I'm getting anxious because I swear everyone has heard back from places and I haven't heard from a lot of the places I applied to.

I got an email this afternoon to schedule an interview with the Critical Care managers.

Same! I heard back this afternoon about scheduling an interview!

Congratulations! That is so exciting. Do you mind if I ask what kind of critical care experience you have? I have applied to various critical care nurse residency positions but unfortunately don't seem to be having much luck 😕

The only critical care experience I have is I currently work as a Nurse Extern at a Level 2 Trauma in a Neuro ICU that is in a hospital with a comprehensive stroke center since June. I have had no in person clinical experience since March 2020 only online because my school couldn’t secure me any clinical spots in a hospital.
Apart from that, strong cover letter and resume that I asked somebody to look over (Nurse Mayura, I did the new grad package which she looked over my resume, cover letter, and practiced interview questions with me). Really highlighted my merits and willingness to learn and grow. Strong letters for my nurse manager & previous clinical instructors.
