UT-Houston Prerequisites

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm currently a student at North Harris and planning to transfer to UT-Houston for next fall. I pretty much started my prerequesites during high school and have managed a way to finish them all in a year here instead of 2. However, there's one catch. I've read on their website that they need at least 16 hours of science courses before we apply. Is this true? The reason being that I think I can only complete 12 hours only by the end of this fall. Hopefully someone out there can help. Thanks a million.

Hey Lene,

I'll start at UT in August and did all of my pre-reqs at Cy-Fair College. UT doesn't require you to have all pre-reqs done before applying, but you must have them all completed before you begin classes. UT is extremely competitive, so do your best to have as much completed as possible before applying. I'm unsure about the way they decide who's in and who's not, but anything that shows that you're ready to go would be in your favor. However, if you can't get all of your sciences done before applying, don't worry. I have some friends who were accepted that are finishing their last science class as we speak! My advice, take full semesters, if possible, and do your best, gradewise, to show that you can handle the load. I believe that is what they are looking for. Good luck with the rest of you classes and with the application! Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

Hey! thanks so much for replying.

It's just that on the website it says that we need at least 16 hours of our science classes done but Im only going to have 15...is that the same thing? I mean it's 4 classes right? I just took nutrition first that's why. But yah any advice on the interview part of the applying process? I'm so proud that you got in! awesome job!

if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA?Thanks!

Hello,

I looked up for information on their website, and they require 40 completed credit hours, with 8 of them being sciences. When I applied, I only lacked one of my science classes. I too, will be starting school this month.

My overall GPA is a 3.8, but my science GPA is a 4.0
