I applied to UT Health Science Center Houston FNP program. Does anyone have experience with finding preceptors for this program? UT Health claims they provide a list of possible clinical sites associated with the school. Thanks for your advice!
"Clinicals are arranged collaboratively between student and advisor. The School has already arranged many sites; however, if location is an issue, the student and advisor work together to find a suitable site."

You find your own preceptors. If, after an exhaustive effort (that you can prove) you cannot find placement, they will assist you--but it's not always guaranteed. Typhon has a list of preceptors who have precepted before, and you contact them. However, it does not mean they are currently accepting students.
Thank you Casa-Bella for this information! That makes so much more sense. I
did not understand the purpose of typhon until now. Thank you!
You’re welcome.
typhon is where you log your clinical experiences as well.
when you find a preceptor, if they and their site are not in typhon, you have to apply to get them in typhon. It can take several weeks. Sometimes more if the site is slow with the paperwork.
always helps to find a preceptor whose information is already on typhon.
Thank you Casa-Bella! I will start searching for preceptors far in advance.
