UT health science center Houston spring 2017

Published

Hey guys! I am hoping to apply to for this spring (2017) at UTHSC Houston. I wanted to hear from you guys and your stats on the hesi a2 test and your overall gap and science gpa.

I have not taken my hesi yet but I will this June/July and as gpa wise mine is pretty low a 3.1 but hopefully my summer classes will boost it up to a 3.4 my science gpa is a 3.7 with one science class retaken.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Also if anyone has ever applied before please share your experience and stats. Have a blessed day!

I am applying right after you in december for fall 2017 :] I haven't taken the HESI yet and I am already studying to compensate my overall gpa. My science gpa is 4.0, but since my overall is low compared to the average that applies, I'm hoping to get great HESI results to help myself become more competitive. Everything combined is looked at from what I read !

Checking in for the Spring 2017 application period!

Prior Bachelor's degree

Prerequisite GPA- 3.5

Science GPA- 4.0

I haven't taken the HESI yet, but am scheduled for June 30th. Good luck to all applicants!

I went to their information session on 5/24 and they said the average acceptance has a 3.5 GPA and a HESI A2 in the 80s across each section.

Question.... a lot of different schools talk about an overall gpa and I see a lot of people stating their pre req gpa only. When the average acceptance is a 3.5 gpa for UT Health (as stated above), is this our pre req gpa with classes just being used for applications or our overall gpa of our entire education. Figured I'd ask. I was stuck during the floods when they had their seminar and they sent me their seminar powerpoint , but I don't see it. Figured I would ask you guys before calling and annoying them....again lol

UTH does not look at your overall GPA in terms of admission. However, they did say the 3 most important factors in admissions are your overall academic performance, your performance in the pre-reqs and the science pre-reqs, and your HESI scores.

You didn't see it because the admission staff working the event said this verbally. The 3.5 of course is the average pre-requisite GPA of people who get accepted.

On the website, it says that your pre-req GPA and science GPA is what they consider, but I received an email saying they consider your overall cumulative GPA as well. The email also says a "special emphasis" is placed on your HESI A&P score which I had never seen/heard before either.

Hey its great to hear that you've been accepted in HT health I'm hoping for the same in the future.

I do have question after you receive your bachelor's degree did you retake classes at a community college to boost your GPA at all?

After graduation i want to retake my science classes at a community college and replace the C i got in AP2 and chem.

My my overall GPA is acceptable but my Required science GPA is not where I want it to be.

overall: 3.2

science: 2.7
