Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!
I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.
Stats:
HESI Overall: 92.4
Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88
Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0
Cumulative GPA: 3.41
My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!
I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

Retook one non-science prereq, however I had to repeat two courses that are not nursing pre-reqs/science but they still calculate that into your overall gpa ? Can't do anything else besides retake the HESI at this point.
You have really good stats! I really hope you make it this time around! I’m rooting for you ?

I hate that they might consider overall GPA aside from nursing pre-req and science GPAs, even though it's just the pre-req and science GPAs that they mention in the admissions criteria. I've repeated courses as well, some 7 years ago and I hate that those could be held against me. I've done alot of growing up since my first undergrad and I'm definitely more focused on my studies now than I was at 19 ?
I agree 100%. I had transportation and family issues the first semester of college and took a break so I wouldn't mess up even more. Went back as a full time student and received A's and one B which I think/hope proved that I am dedicated to my studies after that unfortunate semester. Praying you get in!!

Thank you so much. That really does mean a lot to me. Definitely heard some great things about TWU and UTMB's program so I will apply to both once I stop chickening out to take the TEAS haha. Good luck to everybody! I remember finding out around rodeo season so it should be this week ?
The TEAS wasn’t bad at all! I got waitlisted for UTH Spring 2019 and that was the only place I had applied. I decided this time around to reapply for Summer 2019 and now apply for UTMB too. I signed up for the TEAS a week before I had to go take it and made an 88 with only studying for about 3 days!

Definitely don't limit yourself to one specific program. Ask yourself WHY you think option A is the best over your other options. Are you looking at things such as NCLEX pass rates, job placement %, class size, etc. or are you looking at things like location or just going with what you've heard is the best? UTMB, UH, SHSU and TWU all have oustanding programs! I personally know nurses from each institution who all had great experiences and have great jobs at top hospitals. Don't put all your eggs in ONE basket. You may be surprised what school ends up being the best one for YOU!
I know school apps are expensive, so it may sound crazy to apply to all of them, but if you miss an opportunity to start NOW because you didn't think to apply to a different program, that could cost you MORE in the long run, because that's another semester you have to wait! Just some food for thought ?

It’s the hardest because it’s when there’s the most applicants. There’s usually anywhere from 1400-1600 for Fall, 1200-1400 for Spring and 800-1000 for Summer. It’s not that it’s “harder” it’s just more competitive ?
Just checking in to see how things are going!! I must say, I’m truly rooting for you guys because I see a huge level of companionship already!! All of you are so willingly helpful and kind to one another ? I’m really looking forward to this cohort because you’re all so incredible!!!!☺️
Honestly I am going stir crazy! I am struggling with the waiting period; trying to do everything I can to distract myself and stay busy so I don't constantly think about it. I am also waiting to hear back from another school that is taking a long time in getting back to the applicants. It is scary to wait this long when I applied for Summer admission! I want to be able to have time to find a place to live and figure out what I need to do in the midst of this school semester and a May start date. I pray every morning that today will be the day I get a decision.

I couldn't agree more! Whoever makes it here will be super lucky.
