Starting a thread for those applying to UT’s AE-MSN program. ☺️
Hi all! I am so happy that this thread exists, and that everyone seems so supportive! Just wanting to contribute the info that I have, which is a. I have an interview scheduled for the 17th and b. I have not received info from TXBON even though Tracy said we'd get that email this week...let's see what happens! This program is so crazy competitive, and I want to get in so badly...I'm nervous and excited and bet others are feeling the same! Best of luck to all of you, and I can't wait to hopefully meet some of you in the future. ◡̈
Hey Y’all!!
Just finished my interview and it went really well!! The questions were very similar to past year’s from what I can tell.
What lead you to nursing? Why this AE-MSN program? Why LeaDS? What was a time you had to ask for help and how did you go about it? Something about a situation that you were a leader in...and we also talked about the program, how rigorous it is, etc.
We chatted a lot and I had some additional questions so it lasted 50min. The professors were wonderful to speak with and just know that they may be a bit stone-faced when listening so don’t take it personally! I hope this helps as y’all prepare!!

Wow!! Congrats, thank you for sharing! If you think of any other questions you were asked, I know we’d all love to hear!
I’m glad it went so well! Fingers crossed!
Question: How many professors were in your interview?
Hey folks!
I applied to this LeaDS program last year and applied for the same again this year.
From what I can remember about the interviews last year and what I found searching online for nursing school interview questions, it's probably good to be ready for questions similar to what CaitlinHD posted - what led you to nursing, why nursing vs other health professions, why did you choose that specific program, why a Master's vs just a Bachelor's, things like that. I think they also asked about how you deal with stress since the program is a pretty big time commitment. I'm pretty sure they estimated 60 hours/week for the Foundation year since it's fast-paced (but you could also ask that during the interview if they don't mention it).
Last year, I had a group of 3 professors reach out to schedule an interview. 2 showed up to the slot I selected, so you can probably plan on 2-3 people for the interview.
Other than that, I will just say be patient and try not to stress too much if you haven't heard back yet for an interview. They are scheduled in waves, and I'm not sure anyone has cracked the code for the order of interviews, if there even is one.
Good luck y'all. =)
Hi all!
Best of luck to those who have interviews this week (you should be proud for making it this far)! Mine is on Friday at 11:00am(PT). And for those asking about TXBON, emails have not been sent out. Tracy sent an email today stating she would send us an email once those get sent out.
-What kind of job titles do LeaDs nurses have besides the teaching route? I would like to teach later in life, but not at this time.. I would like to gain more nursing experience before teaching.
-Also, post masters routes.. anyone know if we can apply to that directly after MSN program? or will some nursing experience be needed?

How did you respond to the question “why AEMSN”
Hey fellow applicants!
I just had my interview, and to reiterate the others you need to have the “why nursing, why this program, why UT, why now, and where do you see yourself” ready to go just like everyone has mentioned. Type it out and practice it if you get nervous in interviews like me ?
also, have a few “challenging times” or war stories and also some success stories on the ready so you can reference them when they ask the situational “tell me about a time” questions. We did a lot of those. All in all it was a really nice experience, but I’m glad I went in with a clear message to send about who I am and why AEMSN.
I wish you guys so much luck and keep us all posted!
