USF NP Fall 2016...anyone?

Published

Waiting to hear if I have been accepted into the AGNP/OH program at USF Tampa.

Anyone else?

No luck over here...I called the number and they said I wouldn't be able to register for one until 60 days out from when the semester starts

i tried also with no luck?

60 days after the start of the semester? Isn't the email required before we get started in August?

I am extremely nervous. Still waiting to see if I got accepted to the fnp program. I sent in my application 3 days before deadline. I hope that would not hinder me from getting accepted.

hey same here, no I think they are just going in order so people that applied first are finding out sooner.

I did not get into the acute care program... Do most of you who were accepted have ICU experience? Maybe that's why...

also I don't think it matters when you sent in your app. My friend handed her packet in on the last day of the deadline and got an answer last week.

My friend who applied for the same program I did sent her application at the same time as me and hasn't heard anything yet either. We were thinking maybe they are mailing out letters to those who are on a wait list?

60 days prior...so 60 days from the beginning of the semester

no your status will change to pending if you are on the wait list

I can tell you after taking some classes, USF is pretty disorganized, one of my friends went to UCF and loved it, I wish I would have applied there too.

I have heard good things about both schools. I was all set to apply to UCF, but I never did after I visited the nursing building. I was completely turned off from the lack of visible pride in the nursing department. The building was segregated from the main campus and was barely marked. Not to mention the horrible drive with numerous tolls. I chose USF after attending the info session because I felt they had pride in nursing and that the facilities are top notch and geared towards student needs.

I think all large schools have an element of chaos.

Have you gotten any updates yet? I see you are dedicated to gaining acceptance and I hope you have heard back. I applied last term and made alternate and the Director had me redo my essay and resume to better align with the role description. This made the difference and I never quit trying. Hope to see you in July. Any advice or help with patho would be great because I do not have a BSN just a ASN with a Masters in something else. I have to do bridge courses so any notes or suggestion would be awesome as I am overwhelmed and behind from the get go. Thanks Mandye

Patho has been extremely challenging, they told us at the start of the class that basically if we didn't have 20 hours a week to commit to studying for this class alone we may want to re think taking it at this time and they were not kidding. Yesterday alone i studied 8 hours for our final and I've been studying today since 11 so far for our final.. its probably the hardest class I've ever taken purely because of the volume of content and only having 2 weeks and sometimes 1 week to learn 4 or more chapters of in depth content and have very little guide about what will be on the test, not to mention it isn't your only class. I think another new obstacle is the testing, we are the first class to use the new proctoro program that watches/listens to you and monitors your screen while testing. My teacher has said this has caused a great decline in grades as previously they were not able to monitor students using the book, notes, etc for tests. To be considered "passing"you have to get an 84 and I can tell you they have had to re-grade and adjust a lot just to get people within that range because the tests are essentially your entire grade.

I will be so happy after tomorrow to be done :-) I'm hoping this isn't consistent with the rest of the classes. I don't have kids or really anything besides work to navigate around so that has helped a little but it has been extremely stressful none the less. With commitment to a study schedule its definitely possible to do well.

I'm not sure what the bridge work entails, my BS is in nursing so i didn't have any of that, but patho is the first class you take in the NP program. I can send you my stuff is you want to give me your email address.

I will be starting the FNP program in the fall and would like to get a head start on reading. Thank you so much for your advice and good luck on your exams. My email is [email protected]
