Hey everybody! I'm getting ready to apply to USAGPAN for the 2017 start date, and I just wanted to start a thread to connect with others who are applying. I'm sure that I wont receive many responses until closer to the application deadline, but I wanted to use this thread as a means of tracking my progress throughout the application process as well.
This program is my #1 choice, but I am requesting that MEPS grant a medical waiver (I had a football-related injury 10 years ago, but my recruiter said I should be good to go since waivers are much easier for medical personnel to obtain), and I still need to take the GRE, so there is some uncertainty there. I recently began studying for the GRE, and have been doing okay on the practice tests. However, I keep putting the exam off because I didn't apply myself in high school and focused pretty much on sports and good times. I'm currently reteaching myself high school math (ha)! I'm rocking the verbal portion though, so I plan on taking it next month.
I will be applying to a couple of back-up schools as well, but the military is something I've always wanted to do, and I'm not getting any younger (I'm in my late twenties). I actually almost joined the marines after high school, but ended up opting for college instead. The thought of getting paid to fulfill both life and career goals without having to pay tuition is enticing. I think that for me personally, the stress of having $0 in loans from CRNA school, serving my country, not having to worry about living expenses while matriculating, and the top notch education(DNP) I would receive far outweigh, "making 150k/year in the private sector." ..and hey...I wouldn't mind getting some cool trauma experience overseas from a tour or two!
Hey all, just an update. I got accepted into the VA component of USAGPAN. Now I have to find a sponsoring VA for EISP scholarship since my current VA facility doesn't have a CRNA need. Anyone have any helpful insight into this process?
New to this thread/site, but a fellow Army classmate saw your post and informed me. I am currently a VHA student with USAGPAN. Congrats on acceptance to the program! If you can not find sponsorship at your current VA, you need to contact Dr. R ASAP so she can guide you in the correct way to find sponsorship.

I am in the process of applying to USAGPAN-NEU for program starting in 2018. I will have my phase 2 interview in a couple of weeks and the only missing part on NEU application is letters of recommendation. I have a few questions regarding NEU application and would greatly appreciate any information.
1) I was told that once the application to NEU is submitted nothing can be changed. Is that true? If so does it mean I can't add any classes or new certifications I may obtain between now and the deadline (Sept.1st) ?
2) if i submit now, is there any chance I may find out if I have been accepted early?
3) can I submit my application prior to phase 2 interview? if so does the system allow me to skip one (of 3) names of recommendation providers?
3) what is the format for NEU letters of recommendation? e.g. online survey, formal letter?
4) any advice what information the letters should include? e.g. learning capacity, experience, etc... and who would be the best to provide such information? e.g. academic professor, manager, nurse colleague?
Also, my phase 2 interview is in Augusta, Ga ... if anyone would care to give any advice on how to prepare for it or anything else, again, I would very much appreciate it.

Any updates? Im trying to have the application requirements done by September 1st. Any idea if the CCRN is necessary this year or how many people are applying?
