USA RN to Vancouver, BC, Canada?

From what I got out of my dig of the forum is that the Canadian healthcare system is provincially funded and that any hiring of RNs or foreign RNs would directly be connected as a provincial employment. However, due to the recessions from 2010, even till the latter part of 2010, most Canadian provinces were not accepting international nurses (?). I am curious to know if it really would be that impossible for a USA RN to try and head over to Vancouver and work as a RN.

There's someone in Vancouver, but because we're split by an international border (not even a state, it's INTERNATIONAL.....), it seems so hopeless; so every time I think of it, my heart falls heavily. But I realized recently that my plans to pursue nursing might miraculously leave a slim chance to make it work out and that if this person was really someone I didn't want to lose, I'd still have that light shining at the end of the tunnel if I was willing to struggle to it. Better than not having any options at all right?

But everything I've seen as of yet kinda points to "CANADA ISN'T HIRING INTERNATIONAL NURSES. GATE'S CLOSED." Is it really impossible? If I ever attempted to go over, it would be in four years... How slim are the chances? How hard will it be? I understand having to take CRNE and go to immigration procedure, so everything besides from that - like.... job openings.

It would be impossible to say what the job market would be like in four years time. It would be possible for you to apply for immigration and licensure as an RN as far as getting a job no one could possibly predict how hard it would be.Are you planning on getting your BSN? You would need to if you were planning on immigrating to Canada.Best of luck.

What is YOUR LEGAL status in the US. Your post doesn't read like it's written by an American.

Is it a case that your student visa has run out and you need a place to work?

Like lori said, you need a degree and some experience.

If this person cares back for you, why can't you do the LDR thing until you are sure. It's pretty common in BC and Washington state.

Yes, I am planning to get my BSN! At UCLA. So it's not that totally impossible right?

I'm a US citizen. Born and raised in California.

Well, the reason why I'm looking into it is because if it's a 100% impossible relationship... then I might as well stop before I like this person any deeper. But if there's a chance that it could be possible if things do get permanently serious, then it'll be worth just letting whatever happen happen.

If I was living in WA, I doubt I would be that concerned already about the distance and just carry on as a LDR, but as of now, he's over a thousand and two hundred miles away from me.
