USA Government Shutdown affecting visa processing!

World Immigration

OK so the 'shutdown' has been in effect for a week now and I haven't seen any comments/posts on here about it which only fuels my suspicion that I seem to be the only nurse in the whole world who is affected by it!!! Having spent almost a decade working towards being eligible for a H1b visa, I finally found a hospital willing to sponsor me. Very hard going ~ job offer retracted due to ambiguous CGFNS credential evaluation report, got another report from another agency (who incidentally were much quicker and cheaper and effective than crappy CGFNS), job offer re-extended.... Happy days! Celebrations, etc, right? BUT... the day after they re-offered me the job, the USA government shuts down! WHAT???!!! So the department of Labor is not processing any Labor Certification Applications right now (a pre-requisite to submitting to USCIS.) I am going crazy here. Ridiculous infantile politics! I am soooo sick of my life being dictated by beurocrats sitting in offices thousands of miles away who are totally out of touch with reality!!! Impeding my progress constantly!!! ''Obamacare will be an unacceptble intrusion upon American people's lives...'' Complete gibberish. In the UK, NHS health insurance deductions have been coming out of everyones' salries since 1948. Trust me, there are multiple critisisms of the NHS but NONE of them centre around the so-called intrusion in our lives of health care insurance. HELLO......that is what TAX is. Non-negatiable deductions. You get used to it. It's called being terrified of change, or anything new. GET OVER IT and quit this eye-poppingly ridiculous shutdown so that the rest of the world may get on with their lives. I am so angry! My visa application is lost in limbo somewhere until this fiasco is over. I literally cannot believe this. History will not look back kindly upon this episode. It's a dark time for America. It reminds me of the opposition to de-segregation. For shame.

Can you tell in which state you found a sponsor ?

Regarding the NCLEN exam, from what I understand I need to get my credentials evaluated by CGFNS and then I can apply to some sate BON and take the exam ?

If you pass the NCLEX in a state that does not require SSN to take the test can you get licensed without SSN, otherwise how can you look for a job without license ?

Very sensible and kind words from Moderator Esme12. Still pretty shocked at nastiness of Ginger Mom's response, I suppose you have to be going through the emmigration/immigration struggle to fully appreciate how challenging, and often demeaning, it is. Debating immigration issues seems to bring out people's worst side, and since we are all hiding on forums like this behind 'usernames' people are emboldened to say things they would never say face to face. Shame. I do love America but clearly there are unsavory characters there too, just like everywhere in the world. Of course, seeing something as unpleasant as that hostile 'Tea Party' rhetoric wouldn't be enough to put me off wanting to live in the States! And I am gratified to hear you do not need to join an agency, I will get my reume sent out and start 'networking'....Thank you and good luck to us all
