Hello everyone! im a RN from Philippines with an active US RN license in Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island. I will be going to the US next month on K1 visa and Im planning to endorse my license in California to work there as an RN after i have my EAD but i dont know which would be easier and faster thing to do if i would apply for Endorsement of license to CA while im still here in the Philippines (using my maiden name) and just apply for change of name following marriage in the US? However, im worried if i do this because i dont have SSN yet which the California Board of Nursing requires in the application form and in the issuance of a license card. Another option, is to endorse my license when im already in the US (after i get married and having a SSN) but, do i need to report first to Northern Mariana about the change of name, marital status and address before i apply for the Verification of my license to California and also to the PRC in Philippines which is needed for endorsement? Thank u. Your advise is highly appreciated.

I would suggest you start the process now as you more than likely have to send TOR etc as CA like to make their own determination. They will not issue a license without a SSN but once you are married and have EAD and applied for and have a SSN# then you can sort out a license with CA but at least you have started the process and be quicker

So u suggest that i will submit my license endorsement application using my maiden name and without SSN to California Board of Nursing as soon as possible before leaving the country on K1 visa? Thanks a lot!
Yes, You can easily update the BRN once you are married and have a SSN. Because you have no SSN even when endorsing CA will not issue a license
Im happy to hear from you. You relieved me from my worries! God bless us all!
