US Permanent Resident planning to take NCLEX Philippine RN Graduated 2005

Published

Anybody here has the same situation like me who graduated nursing (2005) and became RN from the Philippines 15 years ago without any hospital experience? I am a lawful permanent resident last Oct 2019, got my SSN the same year and planning to take the NCLEX. According to some of my RN friends here in US, I can apply NCLEX straight to person vue without CGFNS, TOEFL or IELTS since I already got my permanent resident visa. They told me that CGFNS, TOEFL or IELTS are only for working visa. So, I am confused where to start. Is there any state that doesn't require all these? Highly appreciate your enlightenment, thoughts and suggestions. Thank you. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Your friends are wrong. Before you apply to Pearsonvue you need to check out the state board of nursing website and look up requirements for nurse who trained outside the US. CGFNS offer different services and the BON will still require you to meet their requirements which will include a report of your transcripts.

What U.S. state do you live? Because if you really want to work in the state where you are right now, then you need to apply to the State Board of Nursing where you reside, not because your friends told you so that CGFNS, IELTS and TOEFL are required. Each State or Territory has their own way of processing international graduates and you have to follow the steps (part of the steps might be going through CGFNS, IELTS or TOEFL).
