US nurse's application withdrawn by AHPRA

World Registration

I am a US nurse applying for a license from AHPRA to practice in Australia. I thought my application was going well until I received the following email

Please be advised that your application has been taken as incomplete due to your documents being in correctly certified.

As we are now past the section 80 due date for your documents, we are obliged to withdraw your application as the original email had a guide on how documents should be correctly certified.

You will be advised in the coming days of the finalization of your application.”

I am extremely frustrated and devastated as I stayed in constant communication with my registration officer and he gave me the green light via email that all was complete. I am confused as to what to do now. Anyone experienced a similar incident? Any advice?

It would pay to give them a call to straighten things out.

I did, and they stated my associate degree doesn't meet the requirements of their BSN to qualify as a registered Nurse in Australia.

Oh in that case Im afraid there is not much you can do of AHPRA Have already said your degree is not equivalent to an Australian degree. I am guessing your associate degree is equivalent to an enrolled nurse degree in Australia? How long did you have to do it for.

I'm sure AHPRA has an appeals process in place. Maybe you can ask for a review. Or maybe do some more studies in America to obtain your BSN. Trust me, Australia is worth it.

I did my associates degree for 3 years. Plus I am already in a BSN program with a semester more to graduate.

Are you a nurse from the US in Australia?
