US citizen studied nursing in the philippines

hi everyone, im a natural born american citizen and i will be graduating from nursing school in the philippines march 2009. i have no plans to take the NLE. and right after my final exams and passing all the requirements for graduation i will be leaving for massachusetts. i am aware of the things that i have to do to take my NCLEX which is to have a CES from cgfns. i just have a couple of questions...and i hope suzzanne is reading this...

1. there is one part in the application for CES Request for Validation of Registration/License Form to your initial

licensing authority and all other licensing authorities outside of the U.S. who have issued you

licenses/registrations...i have no plans to take the NLE because i am not filipino and not even a dual citizenship so what do i need to do on this part? do i still need PRC to send them a copy that i am ineligible because i am american...and also there is a part in the application If you are not currently registered/licensed, please indicate and explain...

i just want to get a head start so i can prepare all the documents before i leave...but i must go back to the US a week or so after my exams...can i do this? will this look weird because i left earlier before the date of graduation of my diploma? it just means that im not going to attend the graduation ceremonies...please anyone help

Good Question! From what Ive been reading on the Forums, I think I read something about not even mentioning that you don't have a license, 1) bc you dont have one and 2) bc then CES will have to still validate it with PRC and then that could take even longer for CES to send you your report. BUT! I am not sure!!

As for leaving before graduation, I dont think it should be a problem, bc there is an official list that is given to PRC or CHED or some official that lists all those who are qualified to graduate. And to walk down the aisle is just a ceremony to commence that you are officially done... But the paperworks are all set.

I was actually wondering about this too a few months ago, because I am a natural born US citizen too, but I Have Dual Citizenship. BUT My parents said they talked to the Maryland BON, and they(BON) said I don't need to take the NLE and therefore dont need to explain because I am a US Citizen. i just need to pass in my transcripts and all the requirements the application needs. (But Im gonna double check again just to be extra extra sure! hehe)

This same information is currently being discussed on the International Forum. Please just use that forum since this is specific to working in the US and not the Philippines (per the banner at the top of the Philippine Forum.)

One still comes back to the US as a foreign trained nurse and is required to meet the additional requirements. PRC also needs to submit documentation that one is exempt from writing the NLE, letters no longer are accepted.
