Urgent, need help regarding skills!!

I'm taking my CNA state exam tomorrow. I forgot how to position a bedpan under a person. There's a higher side and a lower side to a bedpan. My question is which side is towards the feet, the higher side or lower side?

*we use bedpans that looks like that school if it helps.

As for positions on side, where are the areas you'll need to place the supportive devices (pillows)? You position them to their side and place a pillow behind their back, under their arm, between their legs, and you also need to support their ankle but what else is am I missing? I feel like I'm forgetting something... is it adjusting the pillow for the head?

Oh, do you grab your supplies before you enter the room or after you introduce yourself and have washed your hands? I get lost when I think too much... someone hand me a roadmap.:confused:

Thank very much in advance. Your help is greatly appreciated!

The open end of the bedpan faces their feet. That open area is where the pee goes in.

Your positioning sounds great. Don't just support the legs, support the knees as well. The position of the head will pretty much be the same.

If the supplies you need are not in the room, gather them before entering.

If the supplies are in the room, you will introduce yourself, gather supplies, then wash hands right before the procedure.

Gather supplies before washing hands -- sometimes people touch those supplies whilst they are doing care, so you don't want to go around with yuck on your hands.
